@@mwahhha226 Ok fair enough, that is shameful. But if we refused to enjoy the art of artists and performers who made shameful mistakes on principle I think that would wipe out a ton of great books, movies and art. Of course it's legitimate to feel upset about what he did and refuse to watch his performances on that basis but personally I don't judge people that way because who knows what they were going through. Imagine being a high profile actor with no anonymity to speak of, your private life on showcase 24/7, in a relationship in which you don't feel sexually fulfilled, and your life feels boring and bland. You're desperately trying to maintain appearances of perfect relationship/perfect life for the public meanwhile you're deeply dissatisfied with your life and looking for passionate, skilled sexual intimacy but can't have it at home. Can you tell I can relate to this? I personally wouldn't visit a prostitute due to risk of STDs but I am capable of great passion and sexual skill, but it goes unfulfilled because my wife is not that good in bed. Sucks.

@@brendantaylor3570 Well it doesn't help that Porter goes on about straight people playing gay roles and Grant has played two very definitive gay roles. Firstly, in the Merchant-Ivory movie Maurice (an adaptation of EM Forster's novel) which he was brilliant in and won the Venice Film Festival Best Actor that he shared with James Wilby (seriously, I recommend watching it because not only is it very ahead of its time both movie and the novel it was based on but brilliantly acted by Grant and Wilby) and Jeremy Thorpe who was a politician who put out a hit on his ex-gay lover (also brilliant in that).

@zxra6xx8215 жыл бұрын
damo agun it is brave simply due to how brave the community of lgtbq+ they are representing and for taking the risk of facing backlash due to their heterosexuality.Don’t get me wrong I do think more lgtbq+ actors should be cast however the comment by Billy was not necessary and could be interpreted as somewhat degrading.Some of the actors playing gay roles may also not be straight themselves yet may not be open about their sexuality which is also a factor that should be considered.

Emmys have a rule where if the sixth and seventh placed nominees are within a negligible percentage of each other to basically be the same, then they both get nominations. If Richard was 7th place, for example, the gap between whoever scored 6th (let's be real, it was probably Kit or Milo) and him was distant enough to not warrant a seventh nominee. Emmy rules are weird that way.

This year's Emmy's had a lot of undeserving Game of Thrones nominations .. Apparently repeating the phrases 'You're muh queen' and 'I don't want it' is more deserving of a nomination than playing the incredibly complex David Budd

gosh i enjoyed this interview so much! the amount of intelligence, the wit, the humour each of them have to express their opinion, feelings, and craft on a personal, deeper level is amazing!

Richard Madden should be James Bond Sam Rockwell should be the next villain. Imagine how god damn great they would be. Rockwell is an absolute nut job without even being on screen. Seven Psychopaths is just him haha. I love he guy

Great interviewer, she knows how to keep the convo going and not interrupt at the wrong time and try and move the convo forward at other times.

this ended up being more of a introspective interview, if you get what i mean... the actors reflected more about what the others had to say than spoke just for the sake of it. Loved it!

I think Richard's portrayal of John Reid in Rocketman was excellent, and it's a hard character to play, he's almost universally despised (he abused Elton John, who is a very beloved figure). I'm not sure if he's straight or not, but I think he did a great job of playing up the villain part more than the gay part. Like, he played Reid as a man who happened to be gay, but who was first and foremost an absolute prick, which seemed very poignant.
