@@gmcubed It's the same reason why most people working on the film didn't speak up about the design before it was unveiled. There are obviously some higher-ups in Paramount that liked the design. Speaking publicly against the original design (even if it's obvious he didn't like it) can actually harm Ben's involvement in the sequel(s) or get him removed as a cast member all together. The original design was awful. Almost no one is disagreeing with that, including Ben, but it's not a good decision to speak out about it when you still have ties with the future of the franchise.

Then he mentioned that he played it 2 weeks prior. He probably had to become familiar with the games during production and before interviews to say that he knows Sonic and make fans really take to him. I don't care if he's a fan or not. His voice is still an amazing fit, and I still really enjoyed the movie. Just my cynical outlook. :)

Honestly I can never understand why people are in love with Drummond. I feel like he makes Sonic sound dumb lol. Or like how he has not other personality but just “I’m cool yeah!”. I don’t like Roger anymore either. I think I only liked him in Colors. And that was it. Boom Sonic is the only one he fits IMO. But I feel like Ben is a perfect harmony between Jason and Ryan. With Ben, I feel like there’s more variety in the emotions that Sonic expresses. Unpopular opinion, but I hope Roger stays as Sonic in the games. Ben is great for the movies, but there is something that Roger brings to Sonic that I can't put my finger on.

Sonics character in both the games and the movie has major and minor differences. Roger is perfect for the games imo but for the movie, Ben is perfect for the irl Sonic
