So the day the collection was released i was really sick. My husband woke me up that he was going to work. I saw the KZbin notification that there was a new video. Clicked it. And within 15 seconds I was on the holo taco website placing the collection in my cart. Grabbed a few other things, checked out. Then I went back to sleep and woke up a couple hours later with a no memory of ordering it. Sick me said treat yoself.

Color Club has truly pastel holo, so it seems Cristine simply chose to go with more saturated colors.

about the pastelness: I don't think you can make nail polish true pastel and still retain the amount of holo intensity that Cristine likes to have. the holo will overpower the soft pale base. you will just end with barely tinted holo topper 😆 maybe true pastel could be holo if it's not very dense scattered holo instead of linear? but then again, will it still be a coloured holo polish or just a pastel polish with some holo in it 🤔

Personally, I hate pastel colors, so I was glad that the collection wasn’t quite pastel 😂 other than the fact that the red and orange are very very similar, I really liked this collection. It’s so much fun to wear.

I think a lot of us agree: not pastel in the traditional sense. It would be tricky to get all that holo dimension in a true opaque pastel. Tinted buttercream frosting or rainbow chalk is what I think of as pastel. They are all lovely in their own right.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought these weren't really pastels. Nonetheless great colors. Super glad the formula thinned out because man was it frustrating applying the original rainbow and then on 2nd use it was a mess, even with proper storage and care. Thick and gloopy, a nightmare. Great collection this one. Love you kelli :)

@@Aphrodiselady Yea it's super frustrating! I hated it for the longest time. Try using OPIs or ORLYs nail thinner. Orly only has one ingredient which is methyl acetate and OPI has two ingredients which is butyl acetate and ethyl acetate. They both work really well to thin out polish and with them only having those few ingredients it does not mess up the formula like other nail thinners do!

I feel like holos can be kind of extreme if I wear strong colors in holo finishes, like to the office or something, so this does seem like a really good niche to fill! Very pretty, very helpful review, and I could listen to you say "pahstel" all day long! I'm in love with peach tea, may have to pick that one up at some point.

I love this collection! I bought it at launch. I also found the formula was thinner which I found was a lot easier to work with. I hope they continue to make them like this. I have wider nail beds so thicker formulas dry too fast for me. Thanks for posting this video!

It's hard to make a light color in a linear holographic. The holographic pigment greys out the base color. That's why you rarely see a white linear holo; because it turns greyish

Ok wait for the fun fact question, if you apply a fresh layer of nail polish over ok’d nail polish and wait for a couple seconds and then use a cotton ball and then press down and wipe it off it usually takes all the polish off besides the edges

I agree on you with the new formula, they go on super easy. I love the OG Rainbow collection but the formula was a bit draggy as they dried so quickly. Coral chaser was my favourite from the new collection 😃

I for sure agree that this formula is definitely a bit thinner. I also feel like they're more holo. Maybe it's because they're such light colors but I definitely feel it. Love this collection. I haven't got through trying all of them but my favorite so far is Coral Chaser. It's that nice place between bold and subtle that makes it nice for any occasion

I bought the box and I’m having the time of my life; I’ve worn almost every shade at least once by now. They’re so great for gradients. Pink Fizz is my surprise favorite, followed very closely by Coral Chaser and Sparkling Water. The texture is wonderful.

Option 4: apply a topcoat over the old nail polish then wipe the whole thing off :D My nails are actually super oily so nail polish chips off naturally without damage in a week or so (but of course if I peel it before it chips away naturally it does cause damage!) I never bought the original holos so I picked them up at the same time as the pastel collection (along with the 3 new unicorn skins) and I don't know if they've reformulated them but the formula is pretty much the same to me- the deeper colours look slightly thicker because they're more pigmented (of the ones I have) but feel-wise they're the same, so maybe they've reformulated them? You're absolutely right about how well they've shade-matched the original collection, too! I agree with you about the slightly larger size of holo- it's imperceptible to the naked eye but gives a much bigger holo payoff when directly compared to even other superholos, which these don't seem to be (for those reading who've not come across superholos, they have the full rainbow and then pass through at least half of the spectrum again, so you'll see the full ROYGBIV and then another ROY or BIV the other side). Currently wearing a skittle of the pastels except for Peach Tea and Pink Fizz (cause I only have 5 fingers per hand). I would call them pastels, but by your provided definition the shades are probably a little too intense to truly qualify :D They definitely look more pastel next to the super saturated colours of the OG rainbow set. I did a full rainbow fading from the OGs to the pastels across four nails, I posted it on my IG :D Great swatches as always!

Oddly enough that shade of green and purple were my wedding colors many years ago, but I couldn't find any sort of polish that came close back then.

I have Sparkling Water , i love it! It’s almost identical to Skyscraper from ILNP I see it more as a periwinkle shade than a true blue , but if you compare the two it’s almost the same color but the ILNP is an Ultra Holo formula so even better !

I got four from the collection! Honestly I’m really tickled with them all lol, Peach Tea is maybe my fave but I’ve a huge bias towards peachy colors 😅 it makes my second peach linear holo along with ILNPs Grace! And for the fun fact question, I actually did use to peel my nail polish. Well before I took my nail health seriously. I'd paint like 5-7 layers of polish on my stubby nails and more often than not I'd have peeled em by the end of the day. A horrible habit and one I'm beyond glad I've broken!

I'm wearing these in gradients, 3 colors per nail, shifting one or two colors each nail, so there's a gradient on the nail and between nails. Then unicorn skin, coordinated, on top.

Excited to get it some day. I'm still working on getting the full rainbow collection from last year. Not sure if I'm gonna keep chipping away at them 3-4 at a time, or just place an insane Holo Taco order of several hundred dollars. Speaking of chipping away...okay, so I know it's bad to peel your nail polish. However, I think normal lacquers start to naturally separate from your nails with extended wear and will practically flake themselves off, if you wait long enough. The natural oils are gonna eventually win out. Also! You can move the process along by soaking your hands in water and just moisturizing a ton overall. Also! They said no peely base coat, but they didn't say you couldn't apply it over slightly oily nails to begin with. So I feel like there's wiggle room in this very specific scenario. :D
