If I'm not wrong, the St. Louis captain was Gustav Schröder, honored in 1993 with the title of "Righteous among the Nations".

Absolutely fascinating interview. This is the first interview with a St Louis passenger that I have heard. Her memories and experience are beyond interesting. Thank you. The Interviewer was very good as well, not interrupting , and only occasionally but skillfully retracing when needing to clarify or revisit something for more information was neccesary.

A beautiful, articulate lady who i want to thank for teaching me about life during a terrible time in history. Her parents were wise and had the money to get out but even then - it wasn’t easy. So many roadblocks. God bless her and her family.

For a voyage with the MS ST. LOUIS in second class I recommend the testimony of Gisela Feldman. She was born in 1923 In Berlin and was 15 at the time of the voyage. She and her mother survived in England. Father perished in Poland. Many details overlap.

A remarkably good testimony. A joy listening to. Very interesting personal insight into the SS ST. LOUIS affair and of life in England during the early war years. Also a good interviewer for a change..

The pretext for the attacks on Kristallnacht was the assassination of the German diplomat Ernst vom Rath[ by Herschel Grynszpan, a 17-year-old German-born Polish Jew living in Paris. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristallnacht)

Truthfully, this Survivor needed noone to interview her. She gave a very comprehensive account on her own accord. The interviewer had a clumsy presence. But this Survivor was so eloquent and was a wonderful speaker!

A very moving life documentation of lovely lady who survived the holocaust. Most interesting for me was that this lady grew up in the Rhineland and lived for a while ,albeit ,not the nicest time of her live, in "Bonn" which is the city of my birth. I am saddened at what this lady experienced ,but glad , that life panned out well for her in the end for which I am glad. My thanks for this lifestory.
