I really liked the purple gradient without the holo. I could see adding a stamped image to the gradient as an accent instead of doing the holo.

Happy Birthday!! These nails sure shine as much as I wish you sunshine every day of this year...no matter how stormy God may have granted the day.😂. This is my hands down (pun intended) favorite mani that you have done. I can't for the life of me think of her name, but she has red hair and a great accent, and features that blinged-out sneaker in her intro... She has been doing alot with powders and just put out a video on applying them. It's her belief that the absolute best way to apply is simply with your fingertip.

I've thought about doing it with my finger - but it seems like it would be so messy, plus the pots are so small with my nails it would be a challenge to get my actual fingertip in there!

She just barely dipped the bottom of her finger pad into the powder. I JUST tried it myself. You can tilt the pot and shake it LIGHTLY to get the powder to tilt to the end of the pot. SHE didn't have a mess at all. ME? Ummm.. gonna need some more practice. If you know whom I am speaking about, go watch the video. You will find its well worth the few minutes it will take you. :-)

I think these look terrific. At first you don't think the color underneath is showing up but if you compare it with other colors like blue or red, you can definitely see that this is purple holo nails. As for the silicone tools, I think nails have to be super dry otherwise you are pushing the polish around underneath that isn't rock solid dry. The make-up applicators are the best way in my opinion for application when you need to apply before nails are fully dry. You can do this over regular polish too. Twi_Star on you tube has a video on that and I have done holo nails and before applying the holo powder I applied a coat of Orly Bonder. Let it dry and then go for it! Afterward use a water based top coat, let that dry and then a regular top coat. Viola! (And Happy Birthday!) Rose

Absolutely gorgeous Colette but that said I loved just the plain gradient the colors were magnificent especially once you put that shellac shine over them they were gorgeous I love the holographic don't get me wrong but maybe you can see it in person but on camera you can't even see the gradient it's like gone so can you do the holographic without any base coat does it always come out to look the same that's my question to you and yeah little dab'll do you but then I'm an older chick so LOL love your tutorial as always thank you

I usually only keep it on for 3 days, but sometimes for 5 or 6 days. body chemistry likely plays a part, but I also try to make sure my nail are extra clean & dry before applying it - I always swipe my nails with polish remover before starting

I think it probably does. I try to avoid going quite all the way to the cuticle but I know sometimes I am messy - but I usually clean up before top coat, so the top coat can seal the edges

it's definitely not required, in fact I've found I actually prefer using a sponge-tip makeup applicator - sometimes the silicone tool can have patchy application depending on the pigment you use
