Omg. This is literally how I do my nails every week. I mull over ideas in my head and then when I sit down to create, I find issues with application and end up redirecting to what's easier and what works! So glad you left in the blooper. Makes is more relatable. I think this would have been pretty with a sheer gold holo. Would have had a sweet retro vibe to it. Let us know what the issue was with the gold when you find out! Thanks

I'm so glad you posted the part that showed the gold not working because I was having the same problem with a holo powder that I tried and I didn't know what was causing it not to work if it was the holo powder, the light or the polishes. I loved how urs came out!

I apologize for laughing at this, but... It is just so nice to see someone else have a bad nail day. Actually, doing a video like this is so educational. It shows how someone else problem solves. Today I have tried to trim my nails down about 1/3 of their length. It was one of those days here, too. The nails just kept being uneven, so my clippers and file kept on clipping and filing... I was due for nails down to the tips of my fingers... Shortest in years! So I was glad to see this one work out for you! (Beautiful work on that ombre!) Me? Another month or so... 😂
@mrs.schrado74217 жыл бұрын
JayKB I never use clippers on my nails. Too unpredictable. I've had days that I just left my nails a bit crooked and came back to them with a file the next day.
@jaykb65877 жыл бұрын
Mrs. Schrado I SO hear you! With my asthma so bad this year my patience... isn't! 😃 When I am taking them down that far, filing is too much to deal with. I had only shaped the rounding, not beheaded them for over a month. After that much neglect, clippers!😂. And repentance before morning. But... my typing speed is back up to 100+😂

I really love the way this came out, and the ombre showed up so well in the still photos! You are so calm, and it was so nice to know that even you get frustrated occasionally. We've all been there doing nail art!! I suspect it was the powder itself, it seems to be an unusual texture. It is strange that it came from a set that worked well for you otherwise, but it's possible the gold holo was just not good quality. It probably wasn't your fault at all. I will be interested to see if you can make it work eventually.

you can even tell the difference between the two pigments. the gold is a glitter the silver is actually pigment. I learned this from trial and error too. I got a silver from wish and it ended up just like this gold. but it did still work. I just had a hard time with it. love the outcome of this one!

I know it isn't what you were looking for, but it turned out great. Thanks for letting us see all the frustrating bits. FYI - the gold pigment looked more like a brassy orange than gold on my end. How would you describe it in person?

I wouldn't necessarily describe it as brassy, but it is kind of a very dark yellow type of gold

I'm still not 100% sure what happened, but I think it's that this particular jar wasn't actually a pigment, but just a very fine glitter. Sometimes it can be hard to tell which is which just by looking, at least for me

Any no wipe topcoat is right, however if the "chrome" sucks it sucks. I've bought some off of aliexpress and wish and ended up with glitter that doesn't stick to anything. I try and stick to companies that are tried and true, Wildflowers, Exclusive Nail Couture and the like. It's more expensive than the $2-$3 but it looks great every single time :) This is a gorgeous mani! I'm going to try and replicate it if you don't mind :)

Hello there! Is there any special base coat that you have to use in order to use this holo powder on your natural nails? I see you used a gel and cured it....but is it necessary to use a gellac base coat? Or would something like Essie Gel Setter base coat suffice? Thank you!!

Love the video's you do. Hey wanted to let you know that Defy & Inspire the polish line from Target has a holographic's collection. I was in Target yesterday and they had 7 different one's. They are on sale right now for $6.99 until tomorrow but they normally sell for $7.49. I posted a video on here of them, and mind you the flash on my video was used as they are only holo in direct sunlight or flash. The names on them are much similar to the china glaze hologlams collection

In the thumbnail I thought you had used a pearly holo pigment. I guess the pink really lightened up the silver. It did turn out looking good! Is the gold stuff actually a pigment? To me it looked less fine than the silver, but that could be the camera playing tricks. Thanks for showing the mess up. Obviously wish you hadn't have had to deal with it. It makes my mess ups feel a little less odd XD
@MSLP7 жыл бұрын
Well, I thought it was, but I hadn't looked at it closely before I tried to use it. I think it is more of a fine glitter, even though it came in a set of pigments
@SuperCripple7 жыл бұрын
Do you think the gold holo may have worked better if applied beneath the seche vite or pink gellac? Or does that ruin the holo aspect?
@jaykb65877 жыл бұрын
Holos usually need to be put on top of gel or maybe acrylics. At least my limited experience has shown that I have to put it on my gel topcoat to have any success.
