I do wonder what choices went into casting Gigi. I'm not saying that she's a bad pick, by any means -- she seems great! But going with the *apparent* EU theme, and Gigi's French name, I would have expected the talent to be in France, which she is not. Was she just too good of an option to pass up? I think as early as myth they had almost ready made models with only some details the talents could change but started to gravitate to more cuatom made models afterward. And as far I know Calli is the earliest member (please do correct me if I am wrong) with pretty obvious hints at her past live, so I do think Cover is not averted to "open secrets" but just want to keep the formality of not outright mixing the IP's

'Past life' is just a weird term for other public content made by the content creators. I think fans SHOULD know, in case (for whatever reason) the talents leave the company the talents AND their fans have something to fall back on. Case in point, Selen/Dokibird for example. There is NO reason for the companies to have a hold on _everything_ these talents do or have done, but for some reason a big part of the community still gives the companies this unneeded (and generally undeserved) power. Digging up RL things that haven't been revealed by the talents themselves on any channel is doxxing. Talking about their other _public_ content is NOT.

Several vtubers have even asked the fans who do know not to say anything about it anywhere, because they want to move past or not have their content related to whatever they used to do. Even when companies ask people not to talk about it (or tell the talents not to) it's mostly for the other talents safety and comfort, as some people may me comfortable with their fans seeing their irl face or old content, but other talents aren't. And sometimes by talking about their past life they may mistakenly reveal something about a coworker that the coworker isn't comfortable with. So I think it's a good rule of thumb to at least keep their PL out of their new main accounts or places they may find, unless they've expressed otherwise.

Yeah, I would say that the western market -- especially as vtubing expands beyond the hardcore weeb niche -- is less interested in maintaining "the immersion" and cares more about keeping track of the talents that they've grown fond of. It sucks to have a streamer you like disappear. Being able to follow them matters. For my personal taste, I don't care for kayfabe and enjoy engaging with talents by learning a little about them as people and the history of their careers.
