It really feels like FMAB was written with the idea that people had already seen FMA2003, with how it trims down the parts that 2003 already covered.

@@Acorn_Anomaly Considering FMA03 was already a pretty big cultural mainstay by the time of FMAB, it;s not unreasonable to think they would cut down on a lot of the stuff it would retread. It kinda sucks because in some ways FMA03 handles some of the content better than FMAB and even when it diverged it managed to tell a pretty decently grounded story compared to some of the stuff FMAB introduced with Father. Also, the OST for FMA03 is leagues better IMO. Conqueror of Shamballa is still a great watch too.

⁠@@Acorn_Anomaly Brotherhood was written as a mostly faithful adaptation to the manga, 03 adds a lot of stuff and stretches out certain arcs before it even begins diverging from it. Brotherhood removed one part that it explores later, added it’s own beginning to explain the world(written by the Author) and shortened a few moments, but still remained faithful to the manga

@@Acorn_Anomaly Yeah it definitely was, otherwise there's no real reason for FMAB to have a lingering shot in a random phone booth. Tough sell though. I think 2003 was better characterisation/motivation and explaining the magic system, but it does start off more meandering and juvenile (not in a bad way, just like, younger target audience). From what I've seen, a lot of people give up at that point.
