After an admittedly absurd number of re-watches for analysis, I gotta say that I really appreciate the stage audio direction and mixing here. Like, for those viewers less familiar with every single vocalist, they can still consistently trust the panning of the vocals to match the stage direction, choreo, and/or the camera focus (for zoom-ins) even for some of the pre-recorded vocals. The acting out of the script is pantomimed, but the songs are definitely sung and/or danced simultaneously on-stage. I think Bae's solo performance is the best example of this bc it has what I think is the rawest audio mix on her lead vocal, so you can hear her breathing, some of the dramatic flourishes in her performance, when she chooses to "break" her voice, etc., and analyze the choreo alongside it to see that she's definitely performing both at the same time (fun lil mini game for those who like analyzing stuff like myself: pay attention to when she chooses to move vs when she chooses to stay still; helps get a sense for how stage choreo differs from say your avg MV choreo bc with MV's you don't always have to think about what moves one can do while singing at the same time). Idk how many takes for this the talents might or might not have had but I highly encourage y'all to listen in with headphones (preferably good ones) if you can. Also, the overall choreo is so good at communicating the visual representations of the stories the songs for those who can't understand the lyrics. Kudos to Miyuki Nishijima and Lisa-P on that!

This was an absolutely brilliant, uniquely "Promise" creation! I love how dedicated you were to storytelling with the choreography and dance performances themselves (for example: puppet Moom during Fauna's solo), the semi-Shakespearean dialogue was great fun, everyone's vocal performances were as incredible as we know you all are, and the whole musical production was very innovative in the Holo/vtubing/idol world - both in concept and execution! You say, “semi Shakespearean” but here’s a fun fact; Many of Shakespeare’s characters spoke in what was pretty much plain English. It’s why he was looked down on by many of his peers, and regarded as amateurish until a century or so after he passed, when everyone finally decided he was a genius. Hence why contemporary copies of his work are so rare. Few people at the time regarded them as worth preserving. Anyway, up until he came along everyone thought that theatre should all at least be in iambic pentameter and blank verse if it didn’t actually rhyme. Meanwhile there are whole scenes in his histories which are written entirely devoid of any meter or rhyme. It’s part of his genius, if you listen to the literature types, they will tell you (and it is true) that it lends more gravity to the lines delivered by the main character when they are delivered in verse, after the ordinary peasant has just spoken like an ordinary peasant. It’s also one of the factors that lead to people questioning whether he really did write everything he supposedly wrote. As if it is beyond modern comprehension for a man, who spoke at least three languages mind you, to be capable of writing in several different styles to suit the setting and characters he was portraying. Almost as if it were his profession. Then again, considering the state of a lot of modern writing you begin to understand why some people could have difficulty believing one man could write with so much variety. With all that being said you’re quite right, Shakespeare, were he alive today, would have either written the important parts in rhyming verse, and the less important parts in blank verse, or he would have written the whole thing in plain, modern English.

A story about 5 people intent on defeating the Dark Lord in order to fulfill their deepest desires (the Promise), but by following their deepest desires they became the Dark Lords themselves (the Broken Promise)

Here, it's a cast of 5 somewhat normal girls going on an adventure and eventually ascending to god-like status. Except rather than become Observers, they became Dark Lords.

So from what i understand , there was no Dark Lord from the start . Their adventure was never to defeat the Dark Lord but to make friends. But in this timeline , they were never friends , therefore a broken promise . At the end , they all turned into the Dark Lords themselves , now they are finally bonded but in a bad way

Listen to the opening voiceover again. The narrator lists five traits of the Dark One, and each one applies to one of the five main characters. Kronii's character is consumed by lust, Mumei's by greed, Fauna's is manipulative, Irys' is consumed by jealousy, and Bae's by vanity.

Honestly I am way more impressed than I thought I'd be. The acting was actually good enough to carry a script that was mostly ernest in intent. I had expected several layers of irony in this as a sort of shield for performances, but I was pleasantly surprised not to really find that. Initially I was a bit sadge because this is the last time Promise will have a show together as a whole and we end up with them being the dark lord? But at the end of the day its just a musical... and honestly is pretty ballsy to have a story with basically a downer ending Like, most people probably thought the girls will overcome what each of the traits of the Dark Lord had... but instead each of the girls ARE the traits of the dark lord: - Kora with insatiable lust - Faelyn with twisted jealousy - Namu with ravenous greed - Hexa with unrelenting vanity - Iryssa with possessive manipulation SO yeah... we followed the baddies all along... very interesting tbh.
