Honestly, Olivia was a golden idea on several levels. Lots of people are fans of the idea of alternate/parallel universes, those who are fans of vtuber lore get to see at least a version of pre-zombie Ollie, those who are fans of Ollie's abilities get to see her flex her voice acting abilities, the reactions of the other members were hilarious and were just as blindsided as viewers (especially Risu), it ended up being a good luck charm for Ollie, and the design was so good that all it needed was a rigger to have it become an *actual* Live2D model.

A collab with other alts would be cool, like Olivia and Kurokami Fubuki. Talk about opposites, lol. But I also think alts should be used sparingly, only as a special treat. Imagine how discouraging it would be to Ollie for Olivia to outstrip her in popularity. What kind of message does that send to all the hard work she puts into Ollie? I'm surprised her manager is pushing for another alt stream. The manager should be suggesting caution. The last thing either of them should want is 90% of chat and Twitter demanding more Olivia all the time, endlessly.

You're right, they should be (and they are) used sparingly. I'm sure Ollie and Fubuki know best when to use the alts. Fans can get hyped and excited when the alts make appearances, but I'm pretty sure there's an awareness that at the end of the day, it's a special occasion and that the alts are projects-additional fanservice and entertainment that the talents create. The alts wouldn't exist without the originals that they're based on after all! 👍 -Madekuji

I agree. And maybe I'm reading too much into things, but I feel like Ollie was subtly saying for fans ease up on Olivia stuff, and she would prefer the focus to be on her. It was so painful to see chat missing the hint and go Olivia-crazy instead. I think what Ollie really needed to hear was that she's amazing, and how creative she is to make Olivia a thing, but at the same time being herself is the best thing. I'm super bias in that I very much prefer Ollie. Olivia is nice once in a while, and should be used sparingly like you said. It sucks that her fanart is overrun by Olivia. I hope her fanbase learns not to take Ollie herself for granted, even of technically Olivia is her own creation.

@@jomujomu7513 I wondered about that as well. I think it's possible that Ollie was trying to put a good face on it, but it's also possible she's truly ambivalent. She could be happy and honestly surprised that fans liked Olivia but also wondering if that means they like her less and jealous that so much fanart is of Olivia. People are complex and can have multiple conflicting opinions about themselves. But I 100% agree that for every fan raving about Olivia, there needs to be 20 raving about Ollie and supporting/reassuring her.

I miss the old days when Ollie would always be chopping birchwood during clips. Anyway, no disrespect to Ollie but I wish Olivia were a real vtuber. She would probably become my oshi, the only one that could take that spot from the late Coco. Olivia
