The biggest grammar related issue was that one question about using "the" or "a", though in that case the japanese they translated from was ambiguous, so both options were technically valid translations. However, for that particular sentence you'd probably expect it to use "a" the majority of the time, making it the most natural sounding translation.

I noticed that too. I think it's easier for Japanese people to pronounce Zed rather than Zee, and it's pronounced like that in most English-speaking countries other than the US, so they might have more exposure to Zed.

I think it's because that is how it is taught in Japan but not anywhere else. I also didn't learn that; I just learn from experience with texts to supplement.

Depends on the country I guess. I don't think I was ever taught anything about 5 types specifically, but sentence structure was a topic in elementary school at least. Granted, at this point it's just intuitive so I wouldn't actually be able to answer that question even if I had been taught it at some point.
