I’m glad you brought up the point that so many nail art tools are really solidly in the “nice to have” category. I’d love to see your budget nail suggestions! That said, I did pick up the holo taco nail art mat and I love the floppiness of it but yeah now that it’s in my hands I am questioning the whole idea of a black nail art mat lol. I do love the way it looks, and my older nail art mat is kinda see through which I didn’t really love either (shows the table or desk surface color underneath). Basically what I took from this video is that I need to check out that Twinkled T mat haha

The twinkled t mat is by far my favorite for what’s on the market! Generally speaking, it’s a favorite in the community as well 🙂 I will totally try to have the nails on a budget video out as soon as I can 👍 In the meantime, Kelli Marissa has some hacks on her channel totally worth checking out.

This convinced me to get a Twinkled T nail art mat. I got cheap brushes and dotting tools from Amazon and they work fine. I don’t do any fine line work.

This was a really helpful review! I happen to have all the mentioned TwinkledT tools (mat, brush set and dotting tools) so it was fun to see your opinions. If HT had released the tools around the same time as the og rainbow collection (which also got us the sponges and liquid latex), I would’ve probably bought them as well. But I have the TT stuff now so I’m not going to also get the HT things… About the TT dotting tools: I can confirm they have a nice weight to them and a good variety of dot sizes. Your comment about the weight and width of the brushes kinda stuck: I sometimes feel like I don’t have as much control over the brushes as I would like just because they’re so light weight. But they get the job done nicely, so not yet planning on getting other ones!

Thank you for watching! Brush weight has always been a huge consideration for me, be it from painting nails or painting paintings. It was never something I thought about until I was in an art class and my professor saw me struggling with some fine lines and lent me one of her brushes that was professionally balanced. That lesson has just stuck and I apply it to nail art which is just smaller paintings on your fingers. Twinkled T, Whats Up Nails, and Uber Chic all have individually sold brushes in a range of brush heads that have the same weightier body when you're ready to upgrade or get some staple pieces :)

Thanks for your review, I like Holo Taco a lot. As I have all of those items already and I’m not one to buy for brand name only. However, I do love the clean up brush, it’s perfect for my small nails.

I bought the mat after killing a few pieces of furniture with acetone. I really like how skinny and flexible it is. I don’t do much art with brushes, so I am glad I can just stick with the couple of twinkledt I already own. Do you have any A England polishes you like?

Nail mats are furniture saviors! Though I’ve definitely ruined the wood of my desk… I have two A England polishes but they’re on my list to try more in depth at some point! I really enjoy the two I have 😊
