For people unfamiliar with map art, this is actually a small-medium size art. The mods and tools that allow you to plan and build map art are EXTREMELY optimized these days. A 2x2 map art like this might take would take maybe 5 minutes to get a blueprint, 2-3 days to gather materials, and 3-5 days of placing blocks. The hardest part is that it's SO optimized that building map art is exceedingly dull, you literally hold your button to place blocks and walk along looking at the blueprint. But actually HUMONGOUS map art is mindboggling in scale. Like I know a person on the Hololive Construction minecraft server that spent several months making an 18x8 Fauna map art.

While they can use World Edit to quickly create and plan large builds like this, they have to collect and place every block themselves once they go to build it in survival, which is why Litematica is very useful.

People did this in Survival! Even with the blueprint mods, you still not only need to grind all the mats yourself, there's also a lot of free-floating/semi-free-floating blocks that required support blocks to be placed and then removed. (There was also likely a lot of falling

I have made giant statues of vtuber models before, like 10+ on superflat in creative mode (like 380 blocks tall) and 3 on a server in survival mode, about 245 blocks tall. without those blueprint things. I definitely died once or twice or maybe like 30 times from fall damage while making the ones on the survival server

100000 blocks is high but not nearly the highest. In holocons server (unofficial fan minecraft server) 2x3 map arts are pretty common. There's also a team that made HOLOX logo in 2b2t for around 1M blocks of obsidian. And then Kelanduo. 4x8 map art iirc. EDIT: Someone in another comments said he spent 2.1 million blocks so it's definitely bigger than 4x8

you can make these maparts on websites by uploading an image then using a mod to paste a blueprint into your world so you can know where to place the blocks, or if you have access to creative/op you can simply paste it all at once.

I can't tell from the comments if people think this has been designed in game or not. Of course not. You take any pic you have and you use a map art generator to get a schematic. Then you load it in litematica in game and use offset block placement from tweakaroo to build it up. It takes maybe 10-15 man hours for one 128x128 map. Unless it's a creative world, then you can just paste it in.

For me this is a shame and not impressive He used a program to generate this. i know it because you only need the "upper block" and you cannot put blocks diagonally so you need to place a block an extra block to make a support for the desired block, and on this map you can see that there are no support. so, or he got the extra work to destroy every support block(that doesn't interfer in the picture) or the program just generated only the necessary blocks. Also i doubt he made the fanart himself, he just picked a image from the internet and put in the program.
