Yep! Just like in other aspects of life, it's super important to keep a cool head and not panic. It's also a lot more of a mental thing than some people realize - there's a couple different concepts that come to mind: 1) target fixation and road reading - target fixation is like the kind of video where a kid starts riding on their bike and hits a mailbox despite having lots of space to avoid it, and it's no different in rally! You want to make sure you make the appropriate note call and have the discipline to always be looking for the best line through a series of corners and NOT at obstacles. 2) mental mapping - when you get faster and more used to it, you start wanting to hear notes earlier and earlier so you can plan out your line and where to best put the car in the present corner to better take the next corner, like a machine that lays down railroad a bit at a time. The more track you have down ahead of your position, the faster and more confidently you can drive. :)

@@velo_murph Idaho rally closes roads. They aren’t tarmac, dirt and gravel. But they are public roads nonetheless and they are used for logging and recreation. If you have got enough money it is possible to shut down a tarmac road. They do it for Movies and TV in the US all the time.

So how would this work in an EV rally car? The pace notes all indicate which gear to be in to inform on the speed so you'd have to go on a mph range I guess?
@fluxquantations2 жыл бұрын
The pace note numbers aren’t really about gear, they’re more associated with the angle of the curve. It just so happens to line up with the gear a lot of the time, but it’s not an instruction to be in a certain gear.
@QuinnBoone2 жыл бұрын
nothing against Pastrana, he's taking the car as hard or close to as hard as he can but look at Oliver solburg when he drove these cars in ara, he was super fast and he's not even one of the fastest wrc drivers. The wrc cars and drivers are just a tier ahead of the ara guys. Helps that they have the best cars and teams though. I dint take anything from Travis or any ara driver, they're doing it and we aren't so.....
