Standing next to my Mom when I was a little boy, holding her hand while she sang this after mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Baltimore, Maryland. I'm 69 now and dear God I miss her so! This memory is so precious to me and so beautiful!

My Holy God, I praise your name with every fiber of my being. I praise you for all you have created. I praise you for the gift of life you have given to me and to all living beings. I praise you for the love and mercy you show to me in my achievements and failures. My faith in you is absolute, my lord. I strive to be a better version of myself with free will and self-determination you have bestowed to all human beings so I may better serve you in your goodly work. Though Jesus Christ. Amen.

Keep playing it, somehow it picks up. Bing Crosby's song.. The spirit of Christmas (ie. it's not the things you do at ...), was hardly ever heard/ played, I found it way back, played it alot, then started hearing it. Most Christmas seasons it was never heard.

They are no longer singing it because it does not fit the "worship model" of the "Entertainment Church." And Vatican 2, the great degredation of the 1960s, cast out everything old and classical in the Roman Catholic practice and modeled its "new church" on one of the protestant "worship services." That is when I made my way down the street to the Orthodox Church, where they do not change things every day to suit the whims. AGREE - This is one of the FINEST of the old hymns !

I WAS BORN CATHOLIC AND PREFER THE OLD TRADITION ,VERY SOLEMN ,REAL ADORATION OF GOD , NOW I AM VERY SAD, YOU GO TO CHURCH WHAT YOU EXPERIENCE IS TALKING LOUD , ALL GOSSIP THAT I COULD NOT TALK NOR PRAY TO GOD , THESE IS SO WHEN I RETIRED TO THE PHILIPPINES, ITS A REMINISCENT WHEN PEOPLE MADE THE TEMPLE OF GOD INTO A MARKET ,THEN JESUS WAS SO ANGRY AND HE HAD THROWN THE TABLES . THEY REMOVED THE WEARING VEIL OF WOMEN . NOW IPREFER TO STAY QUIETLY IN MY ROOM AND HEAR HOLY MASS ON TV AND COME TO CHURCH ONLY TO RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION. IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE USA , ITS STILL SOLEMN AND AMERICANS STILL PRACTICE THE SOLEMNITY OF THE HOLY MASS AND THE HOLY EUCHARIST. I HOPE THE POPE AND ARCHBISHOP OF THE PHILIPPINES WILL SEE AND READ THIS . PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES MAYBE TOLD ABOUT THE PROPER BEHAVIOR IN CHURCH , MAYBE ITS IGNORANCE AND NEEDED PROPER GUIDANCE .

@@leticiatann1281 I'm sure there are still places in the Philippines where you can hear the Tridentine Mass. Not least, the SSPX has been out there for years -- I know for sure they say Mass in Manila, as well as Iloilo and a couple of other spots. Look them up on fsspx.asia

I can never get enough of this recording or for that matter, the choir. To me the sound is magnificent and would be very difficult to improve. The hymn too is a glorious set of words of praise. There appear to be two recordings by this choir, one is a smaller group, the second is of course this one. All 'voices' are excellent but I am partial to the good strong bass voice in evidence here.

This is the actual hymn. Only the first verse is sung, they modified the other two: Holy God, we praise Thy Name; Lord of all, we bow before Thee! All on earth Thy scepter claim, All in Heaven above adore Thee; Infinite Thy vast domain, Everlasting is Thy reign. Hark! the loud celestial hymn Angel choirs above are raising, Cherubim and seraphim, In unceasing chorus praising; Fill the heavens with sweet accord: Holy, holy, holy, Lord. Holy Father, Holy Son, Holy Spirit, Three we name Thee; While in essence only One, Undivided God we claim Thee; And adoring bend the knee, While we own the mystery.

if only Catholicism would return to its original teachings, its great reverence, faith and sacred LAtin liturgy--a God-centered religion; not the Novus ordo -- so disappointing human-centered---the divine sacrifice of Our Lord celebrated in Mass is treated as a "supper"...ughhhh....

then we are suffering from disobedient bishops and clergy who refuse to properly catechize its laity, damaging the institution of the church-i agree true catholicism cannot change or be damaged but the temporal visible institution can be damaged
8 жыл бұрын
a.m. Fiddlefaddle We are "suffering", in some circles, but this is nothing new. Don't forget, there was a Judas Iscariot among the original twelve, too. There will always come a betrayal of Christ and His Church from within, even from among those closest to Him. But Our Blessed Lord has assured us, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against [His] Church" [Matt 16:18]. Note that Jesus did not promise that hell would not try to prevail against His Church, He gave only the assurance that it would not succeed. It hasn't, it cannot and it never will, for Christ Himself is always present with His Church in the Most Holy Eucharist. Many condemn the Church, on the basis of the faults, sins and misdeed of its members, calling it false, it sinful, hypocritical and defiled because of a minority of unfaithful or sinful priests, bishops and even popes. The Church is Holy, Catholic (universal) and One, NOT because of any one of its members, priests, bishops, popes or even its saints, but only because of its Lord, Jesus Christ, who is Holy, and His Truth which the Church faithfully proclaims throughout the ages, for the past more than twenty centuries.
@12dudette8 жыл бұрын
absolutely right! so all those little judases among the jesuits and the freemasons who have infiltrated the church will only be fleas on a dog ultimately. i just so miss the open expression of the magisterium, and the faithful practice of the latin mass whose liturgy has so much power it has been the target of the devil throughout years. michael davies lectures on the years of henry vii, cranmer, the uprisings, document a portion of that in a most inspiring way---
