I'm 74 now. When my grandmother was 74 and I ws about 10 years old , my grandmother taught me to play that hymn for her on he piano and taught it to me in German. Joe Brandtner, Pittsburgh, PA US When you play it, I feel my grandmother"s spirit with me as we sing it together.

So nice not to be dragged through this magnificent hymn at full tilt. As a child, I spent three years in Germany because of my dad's deployment. It was a taste of home when the organist played this at a Sunday Mass on a weekend outing. I was an adult before it dawned on me that it was a German hymn that immigrants brought to the United States.

Magnificent audio mix achieved with this RAM hungry sample set, Fraser - you do the Nancy organ full justice. And how easy it is to forget what pleasure there is in listening to a glorious hymn played with such majesty. Now this, of course, is one of the most beloved hymns there are in our repertoire. On very special occasions it can be substituted (and, if you're lucky, enhanced) by a choir that adds the overtones . Even with a rather "sleepy" congregation singing, it will make for a very touching, sacred feeling. But that's just my 2ct. No Christmas or Easter service without it. Maybe a close 2nd place to the "Transeamus usque Bethlehem" which never fails to deeply move everybody (again, if the choir can pull it off) during a Christmas Eve midnight mass.

Super Klang!
@FraserGartshore3 жыл бұрын
