Ein sehr wichtiges Lied in der evangelisch-lutherischen Kirche, zumal Te Deum im lutherischen Ritus eher selten vorkommt. Und Improvisation ist wie immer vorzüglich.

I still have fond memories of being there as a little acolyte in our village church when the Holy of Holies was exposed. Normally, our pastor was more of a friend of softer tones, but after the last tones of "Te Deum Laudamus" had faded away, there was loud rattling from the gallery, and our organist pulled out all the stops that our organ had to offer. And with full power the "Great God, we praise you" sounded. Even the old men on the gallery sang along fervently. For me it was very uplifting. And when I start it on my Yamaha, I can still hear the registers being pulled out. Thank you for this beautiful memory.

If you want a Catholic congregation to sing, play GROSSER GOTT or SALVE REGINA CAELITUM. The only time the congregation can actually beat out the volume of the organ! I'd love to see a written out reharmonization as well!

Every time I hear you play that, I feel the presence ofmy grandmother's spirit smiling down on me. She was 74 when I was 10 years old. We had an old piano. She taught me to play it by singing it to me in German. She had forgotten most of the words. But I learned it because of her. Now, I'm 74. I have restored a 7 rank electronic/digital organ in my house. 27 speakers speak from the living room where the colsole is and 9 from the dining room on the "Antifonal" division which is like a positiv. . I would like to really make her smile from Heaven by playing your harmonization of that hymn! Her parents emigrated from Hesse ,Darmstadt Gemnay in 1863. She was born in 1885 in what was then Allegheny Ciity, Pennsylvania which is now the North Side of Pittsburgh. She went to an Evangelishe Lutheran Kirche. She went to the chruches' school and metriculated in 8th grade. Then she found work in a cogar factofy.. She grew up hearing German from her parents. . She and her siiblings would answer in English.
