John Raymond sorry i overlooked the comments' loop in this link. I got your point that this song ( Magnificat ), being the song of Mary, must be sung by an all female choir or by a female soloist, at least. But then, after some trials, we decided to include the basses and tenors. The melody section was given to sopranos and altos.
