Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit's presence in the life of a Christian. The Bible makes it clear that everyone receives the Holy Spirit the moment he or she believes in Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14). One of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit coming into a Christian's life is to change that life. It is the Holy Spirit's job to conform us to the image of Christ, making us more like Him.
The fruit of the Holy Spirit is in direct contrast with the acts of the sinful nature in Galatians 5:19-21, "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." This passage describes all people, to varying degrees, when they do not know Christ and therefore are not under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Our sinful flesh produces certain types of fruit that reflect our nature, and the Holy Spirit produces types of fruit that reflect His nature.
The Christian life is a battle of the sinful flesh against the new nature given by Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). As fallen human beings, we are still trapped in a body that desires sinful things (Romans 7:14-25). As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit producing His fruit in us and we have the Holy Spirit's power available to conquer the acts of the sinful nature (2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13). A Christian will never be completely victorious in always demonstrating the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It is one of the main purposes of the Christian life, though, to progressively allow the Holy Spirit to produce more and more of His fruit in our lives-and to allow the Holy Spirit to conquer the opposing sinful desires. The fruit of the Spirit is what God desires our lives to exhibit and, with the Holy Spirit's help, it is possible!

It is impossible for me to ever forget God. Three times in the first half of my life God came so close, I could never forget. Major things happened to me from God when I was 16, 19 and late 30's. I thank Him often for this. He must have known how weak I was and what I needed to keep me there. Thank You, Father.

Yes. That’s why I am different then most people. They are walking in the flesh and the desires of this world. Carnal cookie cutter Christians, that let their pride and the cares of this world take over and quench their Holy Spirit. No wonder they have no power. Shoot they don’t even want to talk about Jesus. How bad is that. Jesus knows their hearts. What a shame. Their works will burn and no rewards. Won’t they be ashamed in heaven.

I appreciate the fine work of Pastor Lutzer, but his theology here is mistaken. He is a great and holy man but has become an innocent victim to Christian theological antisemitism in this particular teaching. The Bible is replete with how perfect the Law of the Lord is. The entire book of Deuteronomy extols the healing sactifying power of G-d's Word and for Israel not to depart from it! The Law of the Lord changeth not..it is the same now and forever! The teachers and Prophets clearly had the Holy Spirit. In Psalm 51 King David after recognizing his sins repents and begs G-d to not take his Holy Spirit from him! The Holy Spirit IS NOT NEW to the New Testament! Psalm 119 is the longest book of the Bible and extols the power and the virtue of the Jewish Law. The Bible says of the Jewish people that "God hath not spoken unto any other nation, and He hath not delivered unto them His decrees." To make Judaism in any way inferior or incomplete is a form of theistic apostasy. The New Testament does not replace nor become more perfect in a superseded manner. It complements the Law and bolsters it. God bless Moody and Dr. Lutzer, but Jesus would not be plessed here. Jesus said: "if you love me then keep the Comnandments" They and he understood this as all 613 of them (and to keep them to ones best ability), not just the decologue of the popular ten. Shalom beth Moody Church. The Jews are G-d's people. Christians have been grafted in and are not direct sons and daughters of Abraham...lest they should boast.

All the Scriptures bear witness to Christ. Moses wrote about Christ. “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me. . . . If you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.” (John 5:39, 46)

All the Scriptures are about Jesus Christ, even where there is no explicit prediction. That is, there is a fullness of implication in all the Scriptures that points to Christ and is satisfied only when he has come and done his work. “The meaning of all the Scriptures is unlocked by the death and resurrection of Jesus” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:27)

Jesus came to fulfill all that was written in the Law and the Prophets. All of it was pointing to him, even where it is not explicitly prophetic. He accomplishes what the Law required. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” (Matthew 5:17-18)

All the promises of God in the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus Christ. That is, when you have Christ, sooner or later you will have both Christ himself and all else that God promised through Christ. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. (2 Corinthians 1:20)

The law was kept perfectly by Christ. And all its penalties against God’s sinful people were poured out on Christ. Therefore, the law is now manifestly not the path to righteousness; Christ is. The ultimate goal of the law is that we would look to Christ, not law-keeping, for our righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. (Romans 10:4
