Holystone HS900 Sirius Sub 250g Drone - I just can't give up!

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I had a suggestion from a viewer to try a 32GB TF Card in the Holystone HS900 Sirius drone in hopes that it would be able to write video files to a smaller card. Yeah, not so much. Never format your TF card on the HS900 drone. Flying with my iPhone in airplane mode did seem to help the connection. Thank you for watching!

The flag at 1/2 mast is probably for Bill Anders Crash 7 June 2024. Bill Anders was a retired astronaut, one of the astronauts that flew to the moon. He was flying his own plane doing some acrobatic maneuvers when he crashed into the ocean and was killed. He was 90 years old. He was truly an American Patriot. Thanks for staying with this drone. Did you try reinstalling the drones software. I know most people have computers, but you should be able to fly a drone and get videos without having to format with a computer. I admire your patience trying to get it to work. Thanks for the video.😁

Marcus, thanks for the update flight. Imo, the $446 entry price( 1 battery only) is bit higher than I would want to pay. It realistically should be hanging in there with the Potensic Atoms price in the mid-high $300 range. Still too many bugs to be priced up that high at this time.

I admire your persistence. I've spent a lot of time with this drone and interacted closely with D. The fpv issues are not caused by the SD card. I've used 68 & 128gb cards, formatted in the drone, with no problems. This drone has a fundamental problem with black screen/loss of video that HS have finally admitted to in the Holy Stone group and have said what they hope to do about it.

Hi Marcus. I noticed that each time you try flying, you set the "Transmission" to Fluently and the "Record Rate" to 100M. Maybe try the settings "HD" and 50M and see if that makes any difference. Maybe the cpu in the drone just doesn't have the power for a record rate of 100M and also a hi-def fpv feed. Just a thought if you decide to continue the troubleshhoting of this drone. I did seem to do alot better without the wireless mic being on. Nobody can say you haven't given the HS900 "Sirius" considerations for improvements. Thanks Marcus.

I've never had problem in a dozen flights with it not recording to SD card (128GB formatted in drone). My big issue is loss of video for long periods of time (a minute).

I'm so glad I didn't buy a Holystone (I was seriously considering it!) I bought a second hand DJI Mini 2 from a reputable camera supplier with only 3 hours flight time and 4 charges on the battery here in the UK! I got the full package, with the original box, all the leads, drone, spare props, screwdriver and controller in 'mint condition' 4 months ago for around £40 less than a new one! I am really happy with it. What is your take on the possible DJI ban in the US Marcus? Hopefully it won't come about, as if it does, no doubt your Government will 'sneeze and give our Government a cold' over the pond in the UK .

I think you will have the same Microphone problem on almost all 2.4 Ghz drones. DJI use 5 Ghz, this may be the reason why you have no interference with the 2.4 Ghz microphone and DJI drones...

Notice that while you are in black screen / no video mode you are connected to RC with 3-4 bars. You should be able to go a lot more than kilometer without losing video. The problem is that app does not quickly resume video for a while after it reconnects. I've had video go out for over a minute during which time I was flying blind, even though RC was connected and 3-4 bars strength. Unacceptable!
