I’m a Navy Veteran also. Rob I really appreciate you spending time on a carrier. Your trip made their day and mine ! Being in squadron VAW-116 we were responsible for the COD from landing to launch. There was never a shortage of helpers from everyone on the deck , to unload the mail from that plane. Now you need to go from Pollywog to a Shellback ceremony.

@@deermeatfordinner BIBLE calls us all to be real, sober minded souls, who live holy lives on earth. BIBLE calls nor expect nobody to be: - religious of any kind - monk - nun BIBLE expect us to turn our LACK OF KNOWLEDGE into KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH (HOSEA 4:6) Each human life on earth: - repent - BORN AGAIN and GO AND SIN NO MORE - be baptised in HOLY SPIRIT /THE COMFORTER - LIVE HOLY = soul, after earthly death in HEAVEN. Easy logic, asks no degree in anything. Bible calls us to give out RIGHTEOUS JUDGMENT, no to keep our mouth shut and support everything with blind eyes and deaf ears. See no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil - that old saying, it belongs to masons, am I right again? The vow of silence of theirs. Hey mate, can you tell me if that is normal on the greyhound when landing @1:55 the black tubes on the left landing gear seem to be dragging along the deck of the ship? Are they not meant to be connected to something? Just curious and hopefully i hear back from you :). Thanks in advance and God Bless.
@12982evets
@12982evets 9 ай бұрын
@@xenxike500 Well they definitely looked like they were connected before touchdown. I'm not familiar with the Greyhound but any tubes contacting that "Non-Skid" surface of the deck are gonna get torn to shreds so your absolute correct I don't think that was normal and probably something malfunctioned with he hydraulics to cause that piston to decompress way too far. Maybe that's what caused the last minute flight cancellation at the end of the video. They always do pre-flight visual inspection and that's when that sort of thing can be found. Aside from the rubber tires and tail hook nothing else should be contacting the deck during landing. Very interesting and good on you for spotting that!
@xenxike500
@xenxike500 9 ай бұрын
Hey mate thanks for replying :) i appreciate it a 100%, quiet interesting to re watch it and see it hit the deck in slow mo! Interesting aircraft. You seem to be spot on as well with the decompress way too far, it seems to be hitting the deck way too hard. Thank God that nothing major happened and no one was injured and it was picked up before they got back on, if it was that issue. And i have worked with American forces as well as i am Australian Army vet Artillery Gunner! Loved working with your colleagues you guys rock as a nation as well! @@12982evets

This was such an incredibly awesome, informative look into just one of the many ships that are out on patrol protecting America. But more than that, are the many talented and incredible individuals who work seamlessly together to insure that all phases of the mission will proceed flawlessly. You are so fortunate to have experienced that first hand. I am incredibly grateful to all who serve, and have served. Thank you for your service. Stay safe. All the best from Alaska.

The white painted links help determine how much chain they have out each white shackle represents 90 feet, and will be placed, sometimes on either side of a connecting shackle as you start to get to the end, of the shackles they turn yellow, letting you know you’re close to the end then the last remaining chain is painted red letting you know the end is near

The white link on the chain is the 30 fathom indicator unless there’s a pelican hook nearby. That means that the lack of a pelican hook near one or more white links is 30 fathoms undersea. When the red link within the white links appears, you have 15 fathoms of anchor chain left. Once you see the yellow/gold, that’s the danger zone. It means the chain is almost gone.

So glad you were able to have that time on the George Washington. MY grandson Jacob is on the Gerald Ford right now somewhere in the middle east. It was so good to see the different areas of the ship that is similar to where he works. Thank you for all you do. Good bless you and your family!

White gives you a depth by counting the white links I think. Robert I am so proud of you for this video, and so proud to be an American. I can only imagine what it's like to witness up close all the working of the carrier.... On the lighter side I really was waiting for you to do a "Catch and Cook" from the stern of the ship LOL.

I’m a Navy Veteran and it’s amazing you got this opportunity to join the G dub! I was on the USS John C Stennis and we were next to the G dub in the Newport News Shipyards for years! I left in 2023, miss the people I met in the Navy, will not miss or EVER return to the state of Virginia

In order to be used as a sign to know that the anchor has entered the hawse drum and has been twisted into position when the anchor is twisted, white paint is generally applied to several chain links corresponding to the sprocket or chain stopper when the anchor is twisted into position.
