I miss the sounds and feel of going into a large arcade. Practically my entire childhood was going to multiple arcades, Love your arcade room. If I had such an awesome room I would love to just walk through and enjoy the arcade atmosphere. I have a game room myself with my favorite arcade games on custom retro monitors but you’ve inspired me to go to the next level if possible.

I'm stuck in a part time job, and even I've been able to get 3 arcades over the past few years. I just recently started collecting, and I've picked up 1 arcade very other year or so. If you're willing to learn a little bit of electronics repair (at the very least, buy a couple of cheap tools like a multi-meter, soldering iron, etc.), you can fix most broken arcades. A lot of the time it's bad capacitors (especially in the CRTs and power supplies), maybe some bad traces from leaked batteries, bad pots on an analog board, etc. Stuff you can fix just by following a schematic or simply replace. I currently have a Joust, Defender, and a Centipede. My most recent acquisition is a skill crane claw machine. :) I've only paid about $1000 total between the three, and got the crane machine for $400 this year. None of them worked correctly, but what I was looking for in particular was a good working CRT with no screen burn (CRTs are getting harder to find and expensive to ship.) The rest is mostly mechanical and a little bit of electrical (mostly capacitors.) After some basic repairs, you'll have working arcades. If you really want them to look nice, you can fix up the cabinets. Get yourself a rotary sander, some putty, and get to work. You can buy aftermarket side-art replacements, control panel overlays ... pretty much everything. So if you spend $100 to $300 on a dingy arcade that's fixable, you can then spend about $200 to $400 to fix it up (depends on the game.) Congrats, you now have a "$2000" arcade machine in working, mint condition. That extra value is, of course, your time it took to fix it. If you like you can trade it to other collectors, sell it, up-trade to a rarer game, buy a different one and fix that up. Whatever. :) A great resource is the Vintage Arcade Preservation Society. You donate a few bucks to the museum, and you get access to a forum filled with TONS of arcade owners & collectors. A great resource for anyone.

What a way to start, the seminal Space Wars. Unreal collection. Yea buying broken games is the way to go, although some games are still big money even if their nonworking these days like Star Wars, its nuts. That pcb lamp is cool as is the Atari sign. Yup i know the feeling, often i look at my cabs thinking i didnt think id ever get certain games, yet there they sit; i hope to feel the same way for my next 2 planned pickups Crossbow and Star Wars but i dont know if that will ever happen. Dude, you and your wife are great man, she has nothing to worry over for sure. Excellent walkthrough, once all my games are up ill do a walkthrough but im at 8 cabs, nothing like your setup. It would be nice to have a larger room so you can put them against the wall and have some air hockey and pool table in the middle, plus the ability to have them a little bit separated to appreciate the sidework. Still, this room is amazing man, congratulations.

Where I live my landlord had a lot that was full of tractor trailers and other odds and ends.. And like I think 2 year's ago he sold off the lot including the tractor trailers so start pulling out all the odds and ends.. And the people who bought the tractor trailers started opening up and lo and behold. They started pulling out arcade games. The ones I recognized and still remember.. Super off road. Berserk. Joust. Conversion game but the cabinet was definitely a burger time painted blue. I remember those round edges for chef pepper hat top of the Marquee and it gave it away. Blue Atari cabinet I'm kind of thinking it was a road blaster but not 100%. A blue Nintendo cabinet couldn't see what it was thinking donkey Kong. And a few I didn't recognize. And I lived here for about 7 years till then.. All that time I never knew he had a collection. And it never came up in conversation.. I could kick myself.

Awesome collection sir! I have a BarCade in my garage. I started with a Coors Light Bowling (my flavor of choice) I gave that one to friends of mine that live in Texas. I think I currently have about a dozen cabinets, several touch screen bartops 3 pinball machines and a few other novelty amusement machines (LED Fortune teller, Match Maker and Grip Tester also a Spiral Gumball machine). My daughter and her friends enjoy it as do my family, friends and I. When most kids meet my daughter they always either tell her we're rich or ask if we're rich, I told her to start telling them YES! (I always wanted to be rich. LOL) One of these days I'll have to make a video of my own. Anyways, enough about me, my initial point was you have a great collection and set up! Always great to find another budget collector / enthusiast, although your skill set appears to be much higher than my own.

Your arcade rocks! If I only had 10% of your knowledge of game repair I would be a happy man. I can understand not paying a arm and a leg for a arcade machine. I got my Tutankham for around $300 CDN which was dead when I got it, but all original. and Ive been slowly buying parts for it over the last year to getting it back into shape. Had to swap the old stern power supply for a newer style power supply with an adapter board. Had to redo the edge connector as one of the wires was soldered directly to the board when the original owner burned up the edge connector. Had to get a cap kit and picked up 3 spare chassis off a guy in Manitoba for $50 as I wanted for parts for a G07 Chassis. Which I still have to find someone that can rebuild a chassis for for me as my soldering skills arent the greatest yet. Picked up few bootlegs off a guy in Toronto for $50 CDN a piece such as Kicker, Timepilot, and he tossed in a Frog(Frogger) that needed work. Which I finally got working when I found a spare board set for parts on ebay for around $60 CDN. Ive also picked up a Car Action PCB which is a bootleg of Bump and Jump\Burning Rubber, and a Wonder Boy in Monsterland which i toss a Sega 8 to Jamma Adapter on. I picked up a Old 80's style Barcade for on a swivel base for $250 CDN that had a Splash PCB (Adult game) in it and was wired for jamma. Which is why the guy I got it from was having a hard time selling it off as it wasnt the greatest of games. I ended up converting it over to a Williams 19 in 1 multicade to play Mario Bros, Defender and Robotron using the 2 player setup. It also needed some parts like a Line Filter, and a Isolation transformer as the 14 inch G07 in it is wired directly to the power supply which didnt seem quite right as far as wiring goes, but it worked. I just recently snagged up a working Deer Hunter USA PCB with Light Gun and Start button for $80 CDN off Ebay that Im going to make into a pedestal cabinet. I figure if I set it up to run off a GBS8220 Ega\Cga to Vga adapter in so I can hook it up to a Flatscreen TV using a Dsub connection when I want to play it to converse space in the apartment. Any who, Great video as always. Keep up the awesome work.

Awesome fuckin set up. These games are games I mostly experienced on Atari 2600 (until way later on emulation). I started gaming in 86 when I was 6. So for me games like Altered Beast, Double Dragon and Street Fighter 1 are some of my earlier arcade memories. Played the shit out of atari 2600 though. Now my arcade experience is through MAME on an emulation dedicated machine. There is still something special about having the cabinets all running together though. Very nice. I would eventually like to get some pinball machines since they can only be simulated but not emulated.

I have orignal Mortal kombat 1 and 2 pcbs and a shit load of cps2 games so not short of what to put in those cabs when completed.
