Thank you for your helpful video! When I got to section 4:12 on the video adding the lines of code to the configuration.yaml file I was unable to log in! After getting into the file via VM EDITOR i remove the code an dwas up and running again not sure now how to set this DuckDNS now can you help any further on what I might have done wrong? thanks

If you got an error: ERROR: deploy_challenge hook returned with non-zero exit code, Check for the space on the beginning or at the end of key token.

my duckdns config page does not have the domain field. tried several different yaml examples found on the web including the in-built documentation and it errors out every time :(

Hi, nice tutorial. I follow all the steps from a HA installation from scratch, and, unfortunately, it is not working. When trying to access remotely, I got: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED, any idea???

I can connect to the duckdns adress, however the local ip can not be reached anymore.... any suggestions?

Sadly it's one or the other if you enable ssl

If we don't have static WAN IP, in this case can we use this DuckDNS because WAN IP will change randomly, We can't port forward in this scenario

You don't need a static IP to use port forwarding.

Great video, easy step-by-step guide to setting up DuckDNS and port forwarding. I'm using this and also NGINX for my remote access to HA, it works fine. Only question I have that you may know the answer to: What happens when my Internet Service Provider change my external IP adress, will the DuckDNS addon in HA take care of updating the new IP adress to DuckDNS?

Yes, the addon will communicate with DuckDNS to update your IP address.

Are you able to make a tutorial on the same thing, But with another DNS provider? I’ve tried and failed with cloudflare and namecheap so many times. But i bought a domain and i refuse to just use a duckdns domain xD

I have a number of remote access videos in planning, including the Cloudflare method and one similar to that covered in this video but with your own domain/other DDNS provider. I hope to be releasing these in the next couple of weeks.

Next time consider setting up an SSH connection to your home assistant before doing any of this, so you don't lose access and can rever the config to how it was in case it goes wrong
