Nice job. All of this makes my own Tasker profiles and tasks look like idiots! 😁 I'm just starting to look into home automation technologies, so this video will be a good reference. Thanks for sharing it.

To most people this a dream house. Nice job! I assuming all devices is wireless capable or have an attachment to received commands wirelessly. Do you have a receiver at you system to receive these commands and then excuse them through a wireless network?

+Yathoom2 Thanks very much :-) Yes, the kettle, thermostat and speakers are all connected to the wireless network, the other entertainment devices (the TVs, home cinema, consoles, etc.) are controlled either by infra red or bluetooth via a Logitech Harmony hub, which is also connected to the wireless network. Tasker has plugins for the thermostat and the Harmony hub, the kettle can be controlled via Telnet, so was a bit more complex.

Impressive. Things have come a long way from turning on/off/dimming X10 modules on a PDA. Adding a list of tech used is something that's very much appreciated. I'd love to take a look at (sterilised) exported profiles/projects. How much of this is accessible away from the LAN? Could you run this over 4G, or would you just use SMS/AutoRemote to link to an old handset? Thanks.

+Four Q Thanks! :-) Yes indeed, though still a long way to go - still no all-in-one solution that does all this out-of-the-box, using just one 'standard'. Re: accessibility outside of the LAN, you've pretty much nailed it - on my TV stand I have an old Android phone - I've set up my Tasker tasks so that it checks if I'm on my WiFi - if I'm not, it forwards the voice command to the other Android phone via AutoRemote. If you know of an easy way of sterilizing my exported projects, I'd be happy to :-)

+Ben Terry Well, the only ones I've done related to AutoRemote. Exported it to the SD card, creating an XML file, then went in to it with Notepad+ (find/replace) and removed anything relating to the devices themselves. Saved it as filename-sterilised.ext Also created a walk through just in case, down to UAT level of detail. Tap on x, should see y type thing. Took more time than I'd expected but worked a treat. My mother's never touched a computer so kept her in mind for the walk through. ;) Currently have 'Avoice - Tasker - Aremote - PC - Aremote for Chrome - Eventghost - batch files - HomeSeer command prompt plugin - Homeseer - X10' type set up. It's convoluted but funds necessitate it.

How hard would it be to make it so you use only bluetooth and a mobile device with no Wifi conntection which means everything will be local base and bluetooth controlled and routed for all appliances and devices. Can you make everything bluetooth and accomplish what you did locally no internet? Also how much did your setup cost?

How do you control your Xbox and playstations? I use wemo and Philips hue
@BenGmuN
@BenGmuN 9 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Checkley Hi Anthony, all of the entertainment devices are controlled using a Logitech Harmony Hub, which has WiFi (so can be controlled via the network), Bluetooth (which allows connection to the Playstation and Nintendo Wii U) and Infra-Red capabiliaites (for everything else, like the TV, home cinema, etc.).

***** Hi there, the Kettle is a Smarter WiFi kettle which can be controlled via Telnet using the Send/Expect plugin for Tasker. Google and you will find how to configure it - if you can't find it let me know. I took delivery of my official UK Amazon Echo yesterday and have just got it to forward recognised commands to Tasker via EventGhost and AutoRemote (bit messy though). I have no clue how to code custom skills for it yet though! Check out my other video demoing my Android Wear interface :-)

i got something like this. but im using my smartwatch as the interface to controll it all. and i have a array of Microphones around the house so i dont really need my phone. But i use a old galaxy S6 as the "Homeserver" running tasker with lots of plugins. all the auto apps. from João Dias the old phone just tie it all together..

+wardope Cool - yeah I have another video demonstrating the control of everything via my smartwatch too :) I also use an old phone as a home server (but only for when I'm not home). Do you use AutoVoice continuous for your other microphones?
@wardope
@wardope 8 жыл бұрын
No i use AutoVoice Regonized with Exact command ticked on. and then i use the okay google Api. and have changed the Hotword "Okay google" But im looking in to using windows 10 Cortana Function Along Autoremote ---> send to eventghost ect ect. and run it all from a Deticated server but i gotta find the time to Do i all over. android is good for home automation. but sometimes it just complicate stuff more then it need to.

How did you wire the microphones? What did you use? Can you pls share more information?
@wardope
@wardope 8 жыл бұрын
Praveen Bhasker i used shotgun mic's. the trick was to use wireless transmitters all hooked up to the same receiver and then its as simple as to take the signal from the receiver and plug it in to phone. audio out from the phone is done via Bluetooth.
