@my_channel_4420 сағат бұрын
LFPo batteries don't go critical like regular Lithium-Ion cell phone or laptop batteries. They have other benefits, too. While you might think having them in a shed is desirable, it has to have a minimum temp. Either layer RV Septic heating pads between them and insulate the box, or add some other method. When you get to volume rack-mount batteries that are 5+kw, they usually do not have internal heaters, and assume you've sorted the temperature issues out externally. There are smaller batteries that do have internal heaters. They still need to be kept somewhere they can maintain within minimum and maximum temps, or they will either shut-off, or at very high temps the cells degrade.

How would a Jackery based complete solar system (everything shown in the video + solar panels) compare to your current system at equal output if the upfront cost were to be disregarded? How many of their Saga 500 x panels would it take to achieve a comparable recharge rate to your current setup?
@my_channel_4420 сағат бұрын
If you're looking at a larger, more capable system -or even the same- at a lower cost, look at EG4 and others. Start with mobile-solarpower and some of Will Prowse's videos, and his forum. The all-in-one that include the battery proprietary systems, that emerged from highly-compact, mobile carry applications, use that to increase price. The other downside, is their proprietary nature means you are locked-into their solutions package.

Lithium car batteries are pretty affordable now. If anyone doesn't feel like spending 5k on these banks then I suggest looking up DIY ones.
@my_channel_4420 сағат бұрын
The cheapest retail (non-DIY) I've heard is the 16kw Riuxu with free shipping, for $3200. Who knows what will happen when 25% battery tariffs hit, at the beginning of the year? DIY builds with pre-made banks and a BMS are even cheaper, yeah. But best put that stuff in a temp controlled shed. Not because it can't be made safe, but for finger-pointing reasons if there should be a fire (e.g. insurance). You wouldn't put a power sub-station in your house, either.
@robertroderick4933Күн бұрын
Are you going to do any wind power generation?
@my_channel_4420 сағат бұрын
Wind power is way too flaky, in general, and there's nothing special about his location that would make it advantageous. There needs to be specific favorable geographic and climatic features for a homestead wind turbine to make sense. Those large ones deployed that are an eyesore, are subsidized and don't make up for their expense.

You mean size, as volume or capacity? All LFPo is going to be about the same weight per kw and size, although there are newer, more compact higher energy density cells, on the market in the last year. The value isn't there on the compact integrated (battery included) systems, for anyone who does their own electrical. Usually their expansion battery packs are also proprietary in how they connect to the inverter, keeping costs up.

Is using the app the only way to set system up ??
@ronblack7870Күн бұрын
what is the lifespan of this in your application? what about fire risk?
@my_channel_4420 сағат бұрын
Jackery, Ecoflow, etc compact manufacturers use proprietary systems so it's a little hard to say. Generally, LFPo has a 15-year lifecycle, and the chemistry doesn't fail suddenly like lead-acid. It loses capacity gradually, through cell aging more than cycle stress, with a proper- capacity system; e.g. by not running 10kw when you should have a 30kw bank. More capacity reduces C-rate for a given load or charging rate. 0.2C is typical max for LFPo. So a 2kw charge max or discharge max sustained rate on a 10kw bank. Fire hazard is negligable. That is down to issues with wiring, not cells themselves. LFPo are not the same chemistry, as cell phone or laptop batteries.

Stay away from Jackery. Most influencers are gonna sell their product bc of sponsorships so they won’t tell u the truth. I have a Jackery explorer 1000v2. I have 2 solar saga prime panels mounted to the top of my SUV. Each 100watt. I also have another 100w solar panel as well. I have the car adapter as well and the Anderson Y connector. I was planning on buying 2-3 more battery packs so I can stay off grind for a long time. Well all these influencers just talk about the features but not about the input. U gotta charge it in order to use the features. Each morning I have to unplug the solar panels and plug them back in in order for it to charge correctly. For example, it could say it’s bring in 20 watts around 930AM. When I unplug and plug back in it jumps to at least 60 watts. So there are insane amount of charging issues. Same with the car adapter. Mine won’t charge the power bank using solar panels and the car adapter. Only the car adapter will work. Once I turn that off, same thing happens. The power station will say around 30-40 watts, then I have to unplug and plug back in and it jumps back up to what it should. Same issue when I just plug in the to panels using the Y connector and the single panel. Most I have ever got out of 3 solar panels each 100watt was 130watts. They say u can fast charge in 1 hour using the emergency fast charge. It works when it wants to. Sometimes it charges fast at 1000watts while plugged in to charge it. 75% of the time it’s right at 360 watts while plugged in the the wall outlet. Usually takes about 2-3 hours to charge it with the wall. Dry seldom do u get the 1000watts. I’ve only had it for about a months now and Jackery tech support isn’t helping to replace it. They are now ignoring my emails as well as not returning my calls. When I call and get a person they say they will call back in less than 24 hours but never do. I have emails showing how many times I’ve emailed them and no response. So they don’t honor anything they say they do. U can’t leave reviews to see what people really think about their products. I’ve about $2500 deep into it and it doesn’t charge properly and no help… Stay away from Jackery. These influencers need to be more honest. They don’t have stores so I can’t take it in and have someone look at it. It’s been a freaking nightmare. I’ve waited 3 years to get my Jackery and this is what my experience was like. As far as the output, it works great. But if u can’t get it to charge correctly then those features become obsolete… Stay away from their products. No one shows videos about the issues with charging bc if they did, then people won’t use their code. Be honest and tell ur followers the truth….
@vols2005Күн бұрын
I’ll tell y’all the truth bc I’m not the one trying to make money off y’all. Mine clearly have charging port issues. They even said it shouldn’t be doing what mine is doing. Then one guy said mine was fine. So they asked to make a video showing what it was doing and I did and once I did they stopped responding. Horrible product, horrible customer service, they are all foreigners. Build ur own so if u need to replace something you can with out having to change ur whole set up. I can’t take it back bc I mounted on the roof of my car. They don’t honor their warranty. Horrible experience..
