Home Brewing a Delicious Honey Strawberry Kölsch on Anvil Foundry with Anvil Steam Condenser
I planned on brewing a Honey Strawberry Kölsch but got carried away and brewed an Imperial Honey Strawberry Kölsch. It came out amazing and I will have the taste testing video out very soon.

I'm an Anvil brewer. The recirculation pump has had the biggest impact on my finished brew. Very happy with the product.

I tell people all the time that the recirculation pump is a must. Awesome to hear and good luck!

Put a gas disconnect on a piece of hose and connect it to the gas post on the fermenter lid, run the open end of the hose into a jar of starsan. Quick and easy bubbler.

Very easy, and sadly too many times, we overthink it like I was doing.

The naked hose into a bottle of starsan is the easiest for sure. I have done it with a blowtie2 and a bottle of starsan worked great. built no pressure and bubbled just great.

Thank you and that is a great suggestion.

I just bottled my strawberry honey Kolsch on the 21st of April and it trend out very good. I used a 1lb raw honey and a honey malt witch the honey really stands out. Strawberry Natural Flavoring Extract 4 oz. only used half of the bottle during the second fermenting.

Great minds think a like! I'm really enjoying it and my oldest seems to like it a lot. I'll be posting tasting this Friday. Already have a handful of locals wanting bottles of it.

Good choice with the köln yeast. It’s my fav kölsch yeast at the moment and prefer it over the liquid ones. Also, using a gas QD blowoff tube to starsan is the easiest way and that’s how I ferment in kegs.

I grabbed it at my LHBS and had no plans to brew a kölsch right away until my wife brought home the Strawberry preserves, which inspired me.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like this batch would be a good summer beer. As for making your lid for a bubbler I would suggest drilling a hole for a stopper and airlock. Only draw back is you wouldn't be able to use the lid for pressure fermentation. I have used golden oats and never ran them through my mill. I'll have to try milling and not milling to see if I get different results or the same. I wonder if there is any difference. Hope to see how others answer the question. Cheers

I was going to just toss the oats in but I saw a fair amount of responses about pulverizing them and felt it was worth a try. I do feel even with only 6 oz, it did contribute to the overall flavor of the beer.

I just set my first kölsch to ferment as well. It will be my first time fermenting under pressure, and I have set my spundit valve to 10psi, so I'm looking forward to see how it turns out.

Awesome! Seems like a great style for Early Summer/Late Spring. I've been meaning to brew one for a while but when my wife brought home the Strawberry preserves, I got inspired.

The biggest issue that I have had with Honey as of late is for some reason the color is much darker than it has been in the past, despite similar types of flower. I like my kölsch very bright. It definitely can darken the color a bit.

Honey didn't add too much but it definitely added a bit of shade to the kölsch. Still came out really nice.

The easiest way to make a bubbler out of that, is simply connect a gas fitting to tubing and put it in a beaker of water

True and was looking to see if anyone had a way that I'd never thought of as we all have a habit of over thinking things.

Hey man, I don't know if I wasn't listening hard enough but I didn't catch when you added the honey and strawberry preserve? 😅 Love the idea of using fruit preserve in the boil!

13:32 - I had an audio loss due to a dead mic. I added 2 lbs of unfiltered wildflower honey from Gainsville, FL, and 24.5 oz of Strawberry preserves. (Original plan was 1 lb of honey and 11 oz of strawberry preserves.

Ok so, strawberry fan, honey fan, Kölsch fan. Are there any commercial references available?
@BitterRealityBrewing

My inspiration actually was 100% from the Strawberry preserves. After a bit of a search, I was able to find Rogue's Honey Kölsch, which is a very nice beer, but only one reference to a Honey Strawberry Kölsch, and it was an extract with nasty fake "natural flavors" flavor addition. This was a simple low all grain recipe that I came up with based on most Kölsch beers seem to use 2 Row Pilsner with very little, if any, adjuncts, and I was going for the mild honey notes and a hint of grainy cereal-like tastes while keeping the beer on the dryer side. I'll have the tasting video up this Friday, but it did come out really, really nice.

Yes, and it feels amazing to not sweat my butt off brewing when it is hot and humid outside! I'll appreciate it even more in August when the humidity hits close to 100%.

Köln is the city of Cologne in English.

That makes a lot more sense, as I know Kölsch is from Cologne, Germany, and that must be the exact city in Cologne, like Altbiew being from Düsseldorf, Germany.

Yep, that's it exactly. I read the book on Kölsch. I'm interested in how yours turns out, even if you colored outside of the lines.
