Home Depot 12" Oscillating Fan | Initial Checkout

The initial checkout of a Home Depot 12" oscillating fan.. Manufactured by Midea Environment Appliances..
I'm not as impressed by the build quality of this compared to the 11" Air Circulator fan I showed previously, but I have grown to like this more than I did during the initial checkout and have used this one far more than the other two models I got from the Home Depot this year..
Upon further investigation, this fan is nothing new to the market.. A flavour of it can be traced back to about 15-20 years ago, also sold at the Home Depot, under the brand Palm Air.. I have one of said models, and a comparison video is to come..

Best 12 inches fan i have, it's really quiet and small. Good for a small room. I sold my 20" industrial fan. It is powerful , a lot of air blowing but its too loud which it is compets with my 50 inch tv (50% volune already). I will never buy infustrial fan again... thanks for the video it is very helpful

I like those push buttons! It sounds amazing! I never really liked twist knobs and how they go from 3, 2, 1, My currently fan has one but its 1, 2, 3.

I own this same fan. I use it on my car's 12v inverter, it's great. For tech specs: 0.3A - Low speed is 20W, Medium is 23w, High is 25.5 Watts. The motor is clipped together and isn't meant to come apart. In the middle of the motor is a Circuit board. switching perhaps? It's a good fan to use on vacation if you have an RV. Pretty good breeze considering it uses next to no electricity. The blade has a good soothing sound, it helps me sleep.

I enjoy the sound of the blade as well, it's quite pleasant compared to the sound of many other fans currently made..

I got a fan that's like this but its a pedestal one and i was looking at the motor cover and there is tabs to remove the back cover. its not the same tabs as the ones on the SMC fans. the tabs look like its the same ones that is on the Amazon Basics fan you made a teardown a while ago. I am having trouble taking the back housing off can you give me advice on how to take it off carefully please? thank you have a good day

@@JordanU the fan i am talking about is the new Hampton bay stand fan from the home depot it is in the white color it is also named utilitech heres a video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIKol4por7KIh7c&ab_channel=JimMcLaren the fan is the exact same one that I have but it is branded Hampton bay and the one in this video is branded utilitech.

You should do a comparison video of this fan with a 1980's desk fan and demonstration air movement to see which one would move more air.

There's nothing to be worth comparing, a 40 year old fan of this style moves more air on low than this does on high..

I actually did a video of that type with a similar model with a 90s Holmes fan. Really any vintage fan whether it’s from the 90s or older (I’m willing to say even a few from the early 2000s) can outdo this model.

This seems like a decent table fan, but I think a matte black finish on the base would make the fan look better. I would like to say that the oscillation mechanism is probably pretty similar to the Lasko mechanisms, judging from the sound of the click that it made at 10:53.

It kinda reminds me of a galaxy/lasko in a way (mainly the sound). But it makes a good air mover and most likely if I get one, I'll use it in my sleep!

I'd be very surprised if it has the same mechanism as the Lasko/Galaxy fans did.. Those were extremely difficult to adjust, this goes with ease.. Appears to be spring-loaded as well..

The bearings probably needed to break in..

Warning: random list of thoughts on your video coming ! :) I have the same fan! I am in the process of making a video on mine now too! Bought it close to 4 years ago and use it every night as white noise, year round and haven't done anything to it since I got it(barely clean the thing)(oiled it when I got it as it was dry)! It's interesting that his fan shares design characteristics with SMC fans as well. Also I think you missed the screw that goes into the base.(What the single tool is required for) Nice video!

What similarities do you see to SMC? I'm not a noise person but I do find the sound of this fan quite pleasant.. I did intentionally miss the screw that goes into the base, I don't have time for that.. It's plenty secure as it is..

Not bad they have a mianstays kinda like this for 15 dollars but I don't like the clear blades because It does not look like its spinning and it looks like its just missing blades

I have this same fan under a different brand I got it at ace hardware and it works good for a new fan but it’s certainly not as good as the vintage fans though but I do give it plenty of credit for pushing some air

It's rare anything today beats something vintage, this fan is not an exception, but considering the price and all other factors I do think it's satisfactory.

These can be found branded Mainstays, though I believe the color scheme is different.. However, it is not a Mainstays fan, nothing is Mainstays.. Mainstays is just a store name that gets put on products, they don't manufacture anything..
