When Adam sings, he sings tenor, but people don't really think about the large range he has. He needs it to "drop that bass."
@cashmeretran50042 жыл бұрын
Adam and his brother Chris Rupp came up with the idea of making Home Free then his bro kept singing church songs as they grew up singing for the church and our beatboxer Adam becomes the backbone of Home Free . Adam can play different instruments as well and has tenor vocal.

Part of Adam's secret is he grew up playing the trumpet, which is not that far removed from many of his sound effects and also taught him how to breathe in sync with the sound.

Adam Rupp is classically trained in trumpet performance, which I am sure helps with his breath control and endurance.

This is way he was twice voted (by his peer's) as THE BEST BEAT BOXER OF THE WORLD. He does a 7-9 minute act during every show while on tour. He's added a whole bag of tricks since this act, which was back in 2015. Check out more recent one, eith 2018-10 video. He does a whole session on Micheal Jackson's Billy Jean with sound affects, dancing, and singing, all at the same time.

There's still so much of Adam you haven't heard yet. My favorite is his harmonica in their "Man of Constant Sorrow" you would swear he was really playing one! Tim Foust (the bass) has a 5-octave range and blows out speakers & sub-woofers all the time. You might want to listen to Misty Mountains (from "The Hobbit"- Peter Hollens feat. Tim Foust. You can't go wrong with any Home Free song really.

Guys there are more of these by Adam on YT. He does more than he even did here. Also check out their video of Man of Constant sorrow. Chance does the Jews Harp sound. Adam does the beat and also does a harmonica solo throughout it. Lots of sounds and great harmonies. Enjoy. Oh and he does sing. He has a really good high tenor voice. He also plays drums, trumpet, bass guitar and keyboards. He and his brother Chris started this group. Chris then went on to try to make it as a solo, and recommended Adam Chance to replace him. Also a great choice.

Stamina? --- I reckon so. This solo - or "his' solo is in conjunction of the regular show!!! He is a beast ........... To experience him along with the rest of Home Free -- you see, hear and FEEL and it's even better LIVE. Walkin' away after the show experience makes it so surreal ... even though a "full-length" performance, it goes by so fast, so quickly --- makes ya question "did it happen"; hard to believe what you just heard/experienced. Peace.

The interesting thing, some of the lowest notes in Home Free's music isn't from Tim Foust, the bass singer; it's from Adam Rupp... who actually sings tenor on some of their tracks that don't use beatboxing. Adam is a machine.

Love Adam and the Homefree guys but my heart belongs to Avi Kaplan( the 1st bass to sing in Ring of Fire). Besides being a great bass singer he won the first ICCA award for best rythmn section. He does effects too as do the Homefree guys to back up Adam. Here is a demonstration of how it works between the bass singer and the beatboxer in these bands. Sing Strong Festival 2012 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp_FqIVvqK6Chqs Avi is a solo act now but you may see him around because he was just made an ambassador for the Sequoias and Kings Canyon National Parks in California. "Born in California" is the song he wrote that convinced the parks to go with him. My favorites of Homefree lately are "Everybody Walking This Land" and "American Pie" that they did with Don McLean and of course their very funny "Quarantine".

Yes, Adam Rupp can sing. When no beatboxing is needed, such as on How Great Thou Art, that's what he does. But usually, he fills his special niche. On some songs such as Man of Constant Sorrow, the group now uses a looping machine when performing live. Because even Adam can't do fake percussion and fake harmonica at the same time. So, it's still basically true that everything is live, depending on how you define it.
