It's never too late to watch the Sing Off champs again! I was hooked on Home Free when this aired in 2013, and have never gotten bored with their progress over this last decade. Thank you for sewing all these episodes together, and for including the intros and judges comments. Loved your compilation and your comments. Home free had been touring together for years by the time they came on the Sing Off, and it showed. Their craft and ensemble had this maturity to it. But they said they had been feeling like they were in a rut for a while, and being on the Sing Off made doing what they do exciting again. It's great to see how much fun they had in that first performance, and see them receiving the appreciation they well deserved.

I have listened to the "Colder Weather" performance about 100 times, and I have NEVER heard where Rob's pitch changed! I think that the judges were so complimentary towards them during the entire season, that they had to find something negative to say!

Agree to disagree. The judges especially Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men). Why? He recognizes tight harmonies. He heard it as well as I he slightly scooped when he entered trying to find the note. That's not just me but Stockman. I saw it live & heard it live and agreed. It was a quick recovery with both of them finding each other. It can happen with nerves.

I love Home Free. The reason why I even got the privilege of knowing about them is partly because of Pentatonix. The were a part of a petition to bring back The Sing Off for another season. The network cancelled it after season 3 but they brought it back because of fans petition. PTX really put it out there for this show. It was brought back as part of a Christmas special. Hence why less episodes and less money.

I hadn't heard if Sony dropped them like they did Penatonix, they got dropped the week after they won (Sony didn't think there would be big enough appeal for a capella) Everything they did they did for themselves until RCA picked them up. Good luck to Home Free!

This was fun. Entertaining to watch you watch what I had already seen several times. I'm sure you appreciated the bass and high tenor as your reactions showed. The beatboxing is beyond amazing.But something you probably did not notice, that is something a gal may be more likely to notice is that the two country boys, Tim and Austin blush when they are given compliments, especially from Jewel. Also, you may not have noticed one more thing ---- which is really evident from photos of them with fans on tour --- they all wear cowboy boots most of the time, and when you add that extra couple of inches to their heights, they are a group of guys that clock in at over 6'3" and then some. They are ALL well over 6' 1 1/2" but I think Tim is 6'3" without the boots. They are a big-ass bunch of country boys. Glad you enjoyed my guys. They just came back from 10 days in Australia. Hope you catch them live on their tour next year.

Chris Rupp, who started Home Free and kept it going for YEARS, left the group about 2 1/2 years ago to pursue solo opportunities and also sing with his sister in another band (talented family). HF now had Adam Chance (called Chance to avoid confusion with Adam Rupp). You will notice when reacting to videos that those two might switch out depending on how far back the video was. Tim has the lower notes and even taught Avi how to sing lower. There are indeed “Bass battle” videos out there comparing those two and other a cappella basses. These guys just keep getting better. The Sing Off really did propel them forward. They will be releasing a new CD in maybe June and a recent article I read said they believe there will be radio releases from this new one. They have worked so hard for years. It’s great being able to see them getting the wheels turning. They are just getting started. The rapper NF has a line in one of his songs, “The artist you hear, you keep thinking they’re new, but that artist has probably been at it for years!” True words. (Also, if you like rap, you should check NF out. No swearing. Maybe check out “Remember This”).

I am so glad you went back to see where their story started. It also gives you a little glimpse of their laid back personalities. These guys are so down to earth and approachable. They meet with their fans after almost every concert to sign what ever they want, or just to say hello, even though you know they must be so tired. I've seen them on the streets and in restaurants, and when I gave them a hello, they would always wave and shout a hello back, and do it with a smile. During their concerts, they like to banter with the audience, and they even get them to do a sing along. Great guys, and very tall, too. Their heights range from 6' 1/2" to 6'4" Thank you so, so much for doing this. I love your reactions, and always look forward to seeing what one you'll be doing next.

And it doesn't matter where in the touring schedule they are or the time of night, they are energetic and great. From the first song until the encore. Then within minutes coming out and signing merchandise. I made my friend stand in line to get their signatures (I did so last year). She told me she was so awe struck that she didn't know what to say and then Tim said "thanks for coming" in that deep voice. She was melting (still) when she got out of line and came and got me.

Yes, exactly and then some!!! I so enjoyed your reaction and the SingOff performances..... never get tired of them! Guess in so many ways --- from that point, I have seen how they've progressed and grown. Sad thing is......it may just be me but, even after winning, the $$$, and the recording contract ....... they simply weren't PROMOTED!!!! How could you not promote what they have going here? Honestly seems like they've promoted themselves... which in turn have been pushed by the fans (on here). They deserve a lot more then what they received so far, for sure!!! .... It's almost (or it seems to me) like the Label was disappointed so how!!! Your reaction to this SingOff is so familiar to us ........... it's like we're watching a replay of ourselves in a mirror... and that oh so familiar "good" feeling. Nice to see that feeling hasn't changed too -- we're so content with what HF does....... simply unwavering fans!!! I am glad and honored to be a part of Home Free (the work they do for community is awesome!) Adam's brother Chris was with the group until late 2016. Adam Chance replaced Chris and sings baritone and bass. The Sing Off was in December 2013. Their career really bloomed afterwards. The group is in its 31st year, but Tim and Austin joined about 2012 and they decided to go country and we're quite successful, but now they've gone over the top. Another good video is their concert in Morrison IL...the first two songs are All About The Bass and Your Man...so good!
@kathyastrom13155 жыл бұрын
Fun! FYI, the group they did the ultimate sing-off with, the Filharmonic, are still together and appear often on the late-night show that James Corden hosts, whenever he has a musical show-down with a guest. The name spelling comes from the fact they are all of Filipino heritage. Oh, and the bigger guy, Joe, was in the same college group as Avi Kaplan! Home Free had tried out twice before for The Sing-Off, but they hadn’t really distinguished themselves as anything other than a rather generic acapella group. Eventually, they spoke with the show producers who told them they needed to set themselves apart. Since they had been doing some country songs in their concert playlists and those had been received well, they decided to brand themselves as a country acapella group, and they finally gelled.

They didn't have austin and tim the first 3 auditions. They are all great members, but those two are the stand outs in their craft. They were key to them getting on the show. That isn't a knock to the others. It takes all 5 and they have to weak members

Fun re-visiting Home Free's journey. This dates back to the old of still using a VCR and savoring their performances on VHS tapes. Have seen the guys talk about how HF signs were handed out to audience members (who had no clue who they were) so that colors how the segments are now seen. Unfortunate that Chris didn't garner one mention by the judges (at least in these segments). Am enjoying the evolution of where each guy is, now, how popular HF has become, their solo work...and with others outside of HF... as well as the amazing opportunities they continue to embrace along with the most welcome addition of Chance several years ago! :) (ETA: odd that Rob's last name was misspelled in the graphics. They all look so young. Even the judges LOL. Seems Home Free had some good experience performing together at various places before Sing Off, that's a darn good advantage. PTX did not have that exposure, except for the trio of Kirstie, Mitch and Scott knowing each other for years and doing some stuff together, it was a little more risky for them. But they sure pulled it off. This was great. I love country but I'm glad that they now do different genre.

That isn't the only comment Tim made about Nick. During the party anthems episode (episode 2) they did this little silly thing with the various groups talking about partying and one of the ladies from Element (I think) says, "We want to party with Nick Lachey," and then they cut to Home Free, who are cracking up about something and then Tim says something like, "He's so beautiful," and then Rob nods and says, "He's a beautiful man." I love that Tim's just like, "I find him attractive. Deal with it," and shrugs and goes on completely unbothered by concerns that it might be seen as unmasculine or gay or whatever.

I really wanted SCS or OTR to win, I just liked them. But the winners were really good. I wouldn't want to be a judge on any of these programs, all of the groups are too good to kick any off. ^_^

You need to check out Chris Rupp's channel where he does a history of Home Free. Chris Tim and Austin talk about their experience on the Sing Off and how the producers at first gave people the signs for the vocal groups but by the end of the show even the relatives of the other bands where holding up Home Free signs.

The guys recently revealed that they weren't originally too keen on the idea of the SingOff , because they couldn't afford to travel with no certainty of success. They got a booking nearby, and decided they might as well audition, since they would be in the neighbourhood anyway The rest is history.
