That is Goldfield, AZ. It's a "ghost town" just outside Mesa. It's a tourist attraction now but did look like that back in the day. The mountain behind them is Superstition Mountain. You should look up the story about it.

@Sue Villarreal You're welcome. I visited a few years ago with a couple other Homes Fries. We had seen them in Mesa for New Years Eve and decided to visit this ghost town on New Years Day. The next day we drove down to Tombstone and did more sightseeing in the snow. It was a fun but very cold trip.

This is super. Sorry to say but I like this better than the original. Great sung, incredible bass, unbelievable beatboxing/vocal sounds, amazing harmonies. Each has just the right role in the song. Tanya Tucker (Top Ten) may have made it the biggest hit, but Bette Midler (debut album) released it the year before her, and Helen Reddy (#1) the year after. (1971-1973) My interests have been mostly rock, pop, metal, & celtic. Home Free has had me saying for the last year or so, "Damn, they even make me like country!"

This definitely shoots up to my top three of Home Free covers. I love how they cover REAL country songs, not the current fake "country". Brooke Eden is beautiful with a powerful voice. I think Home Free should cover George Jones's "He Stopped Loving Her Today" with Tim starting and then alternate lead on verses with Austin.

Nice reaction! Great song. Bette Midler did it first in 1971 but I remember Tanya Tucker & Helen Reddy's versions. The guys did a really nice job backing up Brooke Eden on this song. They never take away from a guest vocalist. And how cool did they all look dressed in the western theme. Reminded me of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western movies I used to watch.

HomeFree did such an amazing version of a song that wasn't a favorite of mine. But with those talented young gentlemen looking like they rode out of a "Young Guns" movie and beautiful harmonies I can't help but love this song now. You're right, it doesn't get much more country than Austin flexing his "southern country boy" voice coupled with Brooke's 'Southern country girl" voice. Brooke did Tennessee Christmas with them.

I love it when they go old school! I’ve always found this song a bit repetitive, especially with all the repetition of the chorus at the end. But they definitely solved that problem with this cover! Every time they sang that chorus, it was different, with different layers, different parts in focus, and different phrasing. Like they tried it a ton of different ways and couldn’t choose (because it all sounded so good😂) so they just decided to do it all the ways!

This was beautiful, and her voice is fantastic. I bet she'd sound great doing bluegrass, too, because she has that kind of voice. I agree with you about country. I used to listen to country music. Actually performed country music way back in the dark ages AKA the '90s lol. Home Free, Stapleton, and some of the Zac Brown Band stuff brought me back. I usually prefer bluegrass because I grew up in a musical family and we all played instruments, sang, etc., and the bluegrass harmonies are just awesome. A lot of talented musicians in that genre that nobody has ever heard of. Great reaction!

Nothing but country music was allowed in my home growing, so, naturally, I listened to Top 40 when I got to college. Migrated to classical music. Went on a sound of silence (very little music, primarily at church). Home Free took me back to my roots. But to be fair, nearly every genre has its stars and its duds.

Love Home Free but this song will always belong to Helen Reddy. I remember when this Australian hit the US and American Bandstand with this and her many other hits. She showed us girls that we could have a spine. Maybe you could do a comparison of her version from the 70's.
