Total respect to Home Free for their amazing cover of this classic, for including 75 year old Don McLean, and for releasing this song on the anniversary of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens being taken too soon from us. Great job by everyone!! And thank you for your reaction Simone! But now you need to do yourself a favor and look up the video of Don McLean singing this song live in a concert in the early 1970's with no back up band, just him and his guitar. You don't need to do a reaction video or anything, but just for your own enjoyment! From the same concert he does an unaccompanied version of his most beautiful song, "Vincent"!

Home Free did a great job on this Epic song of my generation!! HF showed much respect to Don!! He stayed true to himself as a singer/songwriter! He also wrote “And I Love Her So”(Peru Como) & “Where Do I Begin” theme song for movie Love Story! Nice reaction to this musical photograph of the 60s!!!

Adam is the best beat boxer there has ever been. Austin's voice is a work of art. Rob is so underrated for what he brings to the group, his high tenors are always spot on. It was a real treat to hear Tim's unique voice in the tenor range. But Chance stole the show. What a great addition.

So in all fairness musik 102 to thomas Metzger his statement and yours both might be correct. Later today I will goggle the song american pie and see how don mclean explain,s how he wrote it . This was the song of my generation, brings back so many memories !! Just a fabulous job singing and arranging a long song that meant so much to us when it was originally released. It was great to see Don McLean again and he sure does sound great, this is the 50th anniversary of his release of this Amazing song. What an amazing job of writing he did. Home Free released this on the 62nd anniversary of the plane crash that caused the Music to Die. A little reearch will give you the details of the musicans and the meaning behind some of the lyrics. Some of them I still dont understand. I truly wish Don would disclose the meaning once and for al so there is not guessing involved.

love love love your reactions! there is an amazing amount of references in the song. not just Ritchie Valens,Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. he also referenced The Beatles, Mick Jagger,Bob Dylan, the Byrds, Jackie Kennedy,Elvis and many more. when asked what the song meant Don Mclean replied "it means I'll never have to work again if I don't want to."
