Thank you for showing emotion. I'm a 30-year veteran of the United States military and in my first assignment I volunteered to serve as a funeral detail officer as an additional duty leading a team to provide military honors to veterans throughout the state where I was assigned. I was the member of the detail who presented the flag folded from the coffin to the next of kin. I always retained my composure during the internment ceremony, but broke down in tears afterwards every time. In spite of what our popular media feeds us, I'm certain that we are much more united than divided, and make no mistake, the one thing our country does better than any other country in the world is honoring our fallen warriors, and appropriately so. I appreciate, honor, and grieve all of our fallen warriors, but I think I grieve more for those who can't appreciate the meaning of their sacrifices, as they must be soulless, and there's nothing sadder than that. God bless you.

Hi Maddy. The song was written by Country singer Vince Gill. He started it years ago when his dear friend and fellow singer/songwriter Keith Whitley died, but he couldn't find a way to finish it. Several years later Vince's brother died and he decided to try again, and managed to finish this beautiful tribute for him. Let those tears out when the spirit hits you Hon. I am a grown man and I cry over many things. Not because they're sad. but because they stir the emotions in us. Your reactions are a joy to watch Maddy. Stay safe and well and adorable!!

Thank you for your tears. My brother and I were in Vietnam at the same time. I was Army and he was a Marine. Both of us made it home. Some of us also carry sorrow for those we had to fight. Thirty years after I returned I started writing as a form of self-therapy. It helped me sort things out and face my demons. The day before this incident I received a letter from another brother which held a photo of him and his family. Thank you again for your tears. My Enemy Sleeps I’m sorry. Maybe I misread something here? The date written over your grave was seven days yet to come. They left you buried in a forest clearing. It had the look of hasty work. It seemed as if they did not care. "The date’s wrong! It’s an arms cache maybe,” I said, "Lieutenant, you want me to dig?” “We got some time. Yep, check it out.” Shallow grave with loose sand hiding your story. Brushing it away, I opened your last chapter... reluctantly Ah, the smell! I found your final place of sleep. The lieutenant asked, “Is it arms?” “No sir, its legs.” And there you were. There you were. Moving the dirt, I saw your clothes. The uniform I learned to hate. “Look for papers. Information.” I moved you. Going slowly through your pockets, I piled your life off to one side. Hand-written notes. A photograph. I gave these to the care of the lieutenant The notes with words I could not read. The photograph that said too much. Your loved ones, hopeful in faded black and white, would not welcome you home again. and dirt would hide my part in this. “Fill it in.” The lieutenant kicked at the dirt and some of it fell on your face. He walked away and left me there. ‘Though you slept and the darkness was upon you, the love I saw in the picture lit the darkness within me. “Not this way.” I told myself and did my best to keep dirt from your sleeping face. I covered you with what I had. Years have gone and the pain is losing its edge. Far away, my enemy sleeps, his face under my bandana. Yeah, I cry every time I play this video.

Living in the fact that my brothers died yet I lived sucks. There is no honor in that. We all said we would all die together, or live free. We didn't! Some of us lived, and that guilt is not what you think it is. it is the lack of honor when not dying to support and defend our brothers. Living past it is sometimes more cruel than dying. You cannot understand this, but we do. Sometimes living is worse than dying, because of our commitment and trust one to another. Love, brotherhood.

My father was in the Navy and now rests on the mountain top with his wife in Willamette National Cemetery, in Portland Oregon. While his life was not cut short like others he did bring home many photos of the horrors of WW ll. Not only the aftermath of the battles, but also the typhoon on Okinawa that did more damage to the Navy than Pearl Harbor. War and extreme weather looks pretty much the same. Some neighbors lost their son to Vietnam. Thank you for bringing this remembrance to us.

No need to apologize for the emotion they evoke with their exceptional vocalization that makes you think instruments and insane harmonies are all happening at times you are not expecting or prepared to encounter as they bring the words alive in way you have never heard before. Their arrangements are sensationally good and they own the presentation in a new way that just wow you!!! They simply take a cover and make it new and make it better every time. The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned. ❣
