So, given that this was my first experience with Home Free, I have to admit that this group could finally get me interested in country music! I was VERY impressed!!!

Hey Larry, welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole !!! I suggest for your next Home Free reaction that you react to their latest, Brothers in Arms. It will really shpwcase just how talented these fine gentlemen are. Their high tenor is Austin Brown, the regular tenor is Rob Lundquist, their bass is Tim Foust, who has a 5 octave range, their baritone (who also covers bass at times) is Adam Chance Ray (goes by Chance to avoid confusion with the beatboxer who also can sing tenor at times too), and the beat boxer who is Adam Rupp...I really urge you to listen to Brothers in Arms....I think you'll really enjoy it...it's a cover of the Dire Strats song

welcome to the world of Home Free. Starting with the guy in the white shirt you follow into the barn working clockwise you have Adam Chance referred to as Chance by most fans as there are 2 adams, he is a baratone, black shirt is Adam Rupp, world champion beat boxer extraordinaire, open blue shirt with beard is Rob Lundquist tenor, skinny redhead is Austin Brown lead tenor and last but not least is Tim Faust, bass, has a tendency to blow up amplifiers with sub-harmonics and shake ceiling tiles loose at concerts. These guys are amazing and they have great personality, they like to have fun and it shows in a lot of their videos. Their rabbit hole goes deep.

Home Free's harmonies are amazing. No one is really the lead though they all shine in their own way. And the beatboxer does so many background sounds/instruments that compliment vs overpower the song. Great reaction, thank you Sir.

You will find as you delve deeper into Home Free that a good majority of the Home Fries are also Pentaholics. Both groups bring their own special sauce, so very difficult to choose between the two. Home Free covers many genres and they have both a very serious side as well as just a down home have fun good 'ol boy side. Some suggestions, their cover of Crosby, Stills and Nash's Helplessly Hoping shows off their amazing vocal harmonies (no beatboxing in that one). Their cover of End of the Road by Boyz 2 Men shows they have no problem with R&B. When a Man Loves a Woman highlights Austin's amazing tenor. For their lighter side check out their Butts Remix or All About That Bass. For the more serious side, their recent release of Brothers in Arms has killer harmonies. Probably their best knows covers are Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire (Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix joins them) and Man of Constant Sorrow. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. They're great.

Home Free literally sings all genres, but they put their own special spin on everything. This one is very popular, but not my favorite... those would be: My Church, Folsom Prison Blues, How Great Thou Art, Man of Constant Sorrow, Helplessly Hoping, Crazy, Brothers in Arms (and many more). A lot of Home Fries are also fans of Voice Play, the third leg of the world class trifecta of a capella (with PTX the other leg).

" BROTHER'S IN ARM'S " Dire Straits original " HOPELESSLY HELPING " Crosby, Stills and Nash cover Appreciate you for checking out Home Free and giving them the opportunity! They are my absolute favorite group of all time! Glad that you are open minded and realize that there are many listeners/viewers that have many preferences or love different genres! There is a massive group of Home Free fans ( the Home Fry's ) who will be come running to your channel and you will see an exponential rise in subs because of how much we love Home Free! Glad I found you! Pentatonix won The Sing Off season 3 and Home Free won season 4! Voice Play were contestants on season 4 but we're eliminated. All three are great and are good friends having worked together on lot's of projects! They really don't like to be compared because they are so different from each other and sometimes can lead to division or discord between some of the fans who do not have good manners. Home Free now owns their label as of several years ago so hopefully you won't run into lots of blocks although " some of their older videos might get blocked but not often. New sub!

Hey welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole…it’s a fabulous journey I started in April. Home Free calls themselves the BBC only country vocal band, but they truly can do anything. HF loves their reactors and to get a good feel for their abilities and personalities check out Man of Constant Sorrow and their Butts Medley. Their cover of Boyz 2 Men End of the Road is wonderfully done. Mayday is great, but strongly suggest you hold off till you are more familiar with the guys. I’ve never been a big fan of a capella groups until HF, but it makes my day to listen to their music or watch a vid of their concerts…they have great humor and an unbelievable connection with their fans and audiences. I like some of PTX, but can’t really get into their concerts. Really enjoyed your reaction and comments about the techniques they use. Thanks

I am a Pentaholic and a Home Fry (a Pentafry, if you will). I think of Home Free as the Country/Rock/Gospel/Comedy version of Pentatonix (PTX). They are incredible. I wasn't a fan of Country/Gospel until I started listening to them - they made me like the genre. (Just like Pentatonix does with the songs they cover,) Their beatboxer (and he sings as well), Adam, is.....indescribable. I have no idea who would come out on top between him and Kevin. I would hate to choose. Austin (high, high tenor could give Mitch a run for his money - thought I still think Mitch has a higher, clearer tone and is my favorite, but I could be prejudiced). Rob (other tenor, has a beard) matches Kevin or even Kirstie in tenor/contralto range, Chance and Tim are both basses, but Tim has about a 5+ octave range so he can sing anywhere. He is the one with the low notes to blow out speakers. Chance usually sings baritone, but covers Tim on bass if Tim goes elsewhere. Would say Chance would be like Scott and Tim would be like Matt (PTX new bass post 2017), but Tim has low notes that Matt does not have. If you do Home Free's Ring of Fire, you can hear both Tim and Avi from Pentatonix (bass prior to 2017). Avi is the closest to Tim. Both have LOW notes, but totally different qualities to their sound.

Do be aware that the group was formed quite awhile ago (see the wiki page for details) but hit mainstream listeners when they won 4th season of Sing Off. At that time their baritone was Chris Rupp(brother of Adam Rupp, the beatboxer - co creators of the group.) When he went out on his own and wanted to form another group, Adam Chance joined. Range of all of them is awesome, and if you listen to other of their covers, you will hear the base switch between singers and the "background" swap as well ... Best example of that is American Pie. And if you want some more great harmonies, their cover of Queen's Seven Bridges Road. I'd also suggest, if you have a great sense of humor, including their version of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer to your 25 days... As well as Do You Hear What I Hear... That shows their range, allowing them, in one verse, to sing that phrase in 4 octaves echoing the lead!! (Plus, the video was done in a cool ice castle!!)

Your selection of "One Man Band" as your first exposure to Home Free is what drew me to try your channel. After your analysis, I hit the "subscribe" button. As you follow us Home Fries down the path, you will discover Home Free to be MUCH more varied in music selection and more interesting in video production. They have a fair amount of Christmas music too. I would suggest that you sub them in for one, or more, of the 25 Days of PTX vacancies. I would also STRONGLY recommend "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" as one of those sub ins. In that one, their musical predecessors, the Oak Ridge Boys, join them for an incredibly powerful vocal performance. But, as said many times in the comments, you cannot make a bad choice with a Home Free song. Oh, and I have never heard of their stuff being blocked. Anyway, love the channel and I'll be hanging around.

Thanks for doing this song by Home Free. Glad you've discovered just how great these five men are! They take "country" to a whole different (read "higher") level. Their smooth harmonies are rare, even in a cappella. I could - and often do - listen to them for hours. Other groups, on the other hand, are often so "busy", or as you put it, they "come at you from all sides". Personally, I prefer peace, happiness and harmony, and the Home Free guys have that in spades!

Enjoyed your first time reaction to Home Free. Their beat boxer Adam Rupp is one of the best. While most of their music leans country, they do all genres. No matter what they do, their harmonies are great. American Pie featuring Don McLean is a good listen.

Really cool and very unique. “Take That” have been the first boy group ever and we were really addicted to back in the 90s. These guys are more adult and I like the harmony and the kind of appearance.

Thank you so much for reacting to Home Free. The guys are amazing. You now have a lot of infomation on Home Free, songs to react to and you won't go wrong with any one you pick. They won't disappoint. A little more information on the guys...Adam Chance (Chance) came in from outside...he is baritone/bass...from Alabama, the next to sing is...Rob Lundquist (The Beard) tenor...from Minnesota...3rd singer...Tim Foust (with an o) short hair with gray...you will see him with long dark hair in most of the songs...Bass and then some...from Southeast Texas...4th singer...Austin Brown long hair...high, high tenor...from Tipton, Georgia...Adam Rupp the beatboxer/percussionist...from Minnesota...amazing...You will also see Chris Rupp...Adam Rupp's brother, he wears a cowboy hat or cap...the brothers co founded the group in 2000. Chris left the band to pursue solo work and is doing quite well. That's when Chance came in. Great bunch of guys and so happy they get along very well with Pentatonix and with VoicePlay if you want to check out another acapella group. Tim and Rob have sung with them. Sorry this is so long. Hope you don't mind. Thanks again for a great reaction.

Hey Larry! Like you, I discovered Pentatonix before Home Free. I was in awe of Pentatonix; they were and still are amazing! But Home Free is just a different vibe altogether. I am not a country music fan. But I absolutely love their country twist that they create performing non-country music. They can do serious songs as well as fun songs. They do an excellent job of taking the listener down whatever road they wish; to lead him/her to whatever final destination they desire. It can sometimes be an emotional journey. Brothers in Arms is one of those songs. It left me speechless. No distracting scenery or special effects. Just an eternal message that is delivered eloquently and beautifully. Enjoy!

Glad you found Home Free! Welcome to being a Home Fry! I made sure to show this reaction to my chat in my segment "Reactor Reacting to a Reactor Reacting to Home Free for the First Time." and I definitely feel you on Pentatonix blocks. I can't react to any of their songs or even Avi. Great reaction man. Subbed!

As you don’t care for country, I’m not sure you’ll like “Man Of Constant Sorrow”, unless you loved the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou?” I recommend “In The Blood”, “Helplessly Hoping”, “How Great Thou Art”, their original “Snow Globe, “ The End Of The Road”, and their newest “Brother’s In Arms”. Then you’ll be a Home Fry, and you’ll dive into their diverse genre catalog.

Hi! I am a new subscriber (thanks to this Home Free video). Home Free considered themselves a Country A Cappella group, but they’re so much more! Yes, they’ve recorded many, many covers of different genres (Pop, R & B, Gospel, Patriotic, Christmas, and even Rock), but they put their own spin on each. They mainly keep the same melody, but sing it in more of a laid back, or upbeat, vibe, depending on the song. They became more popular after their appearance on the Sing Off the following season after Pentatonix. Many have suggested some great songs, to which I definitely concur!

The only songs you could have trouble with ( if you don't pause and talk about during the video) are any they did while under contract with Sony (when they won the Sing Off), which they hated and got out of as soon as possible. But I've seen many reactions of those songs, so it can be done.

The Acapella Trifecta is Home Free, Pentatonix and Voice Play. The Bass Trifecta is Tim Foust (HF), Avi Kaplan (formerly of PTX) and Geoff Castellucci (VP). There is a LOT of crossover between fans of all 3, although fans do tend to have a slight preference for one over the others. I'm a solid Home Fry, but I have songs I really love with the other two. Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, is affectionately called a 'Freak of Nature', he's world class for sure.

It's always interesting to see someone who has never seen or heard Home Free first be impressed then convert to being a Home Fry. If you're doing a Chirstmas song (granted it isn't Pentatonix) Please check out Home Free's "Do You Hear What I Hear" video that they recorded in the Ice Castle at Eden Prairie Minnesota. I've always loved the song, especially the version by Bing Crosby but now Bing takes a second seat to Home Free. Even if you don't have time to do a reaction video on it, watch and enjoy it for yourself. You'll be glad you did. You can't go wrong with any Home Free song.
