Glad we are getting a double feature! Chance wrote this song for the game "Skull & Bones". I do think they were asked to write this because of "The Sea Shanty Medley". I really like seeing this live version as it shows who is doing what parts. Tim & Chance are doing the really low notes in the beginning. Chance has his guitar & Austin is playing a mandolin. Adam is holding down the percussion sounds. And Austin & Rob are adding a fuller sound with their harmonies. Wish the live was the longer version of the song. These guys are so supportive of each other's talents & projects.

This one blew me out of the water! I wonder if the higher ranges were played down in the lyric version because maybe Ubisoft produced it? They would have wanted to put the balance on the bass voices, I think. !Just a guess, don't quote me. Rob and Austin were close to singing in their opera mode I, too, noticed a bit of uncertainty in Chance's voice at the beginning of the live version -- there was a quiver in his voice right at first, more than his normal vibrato would produce. But, my, oh my, what a glorious song and performance! I love how so many reactors don't realize Chance is the other bass right away. And Adam is playing the heck out of his drums! Go, Chance! Write another song for us! YoHo Home Free!

It's Tim taking it down the octave (melody) and Chance singing melody for the lyric video, which Chance's octave was also pretty low to start off with, so .... on the live version it looks like Adam Rupp is saying "Skull and Bones" in the background. But that's actually Rob doing "Skull and Bones" in the background. The camera man got it wrong. Aside: It's Chance who wrote the song. Austin and Rob are taking it up the octave for the opera and choral sound in the background on chorus. I swear Rob is like their rock sometimes. He literally sounds like a choir by himself. Such a big sound. Thank you for reacting to it. It's amazing. Oh, P.S. that's Adam Chance on the laugh at the end of the lyric version. I thought it was Tim at first, too. Oh, and I think the sound guy completely messed up Adam Chance's mike volume in the live version. My opinion. So unfortunate.

Thank you! I've been trying to tell people that it's Rob. It's obvious to my ears that it's him and you can hear the drums at the exact time you hear "Skull and Bones". They overlap each other. So it has to be two different people, or at least one prerecorded track. I know Adam is talented, but he's still not able to do the impossible, regardless what people think. Lol. And I don't think the camera person "got it wrong", necessarily. They just happened to be filming Adam at that time. I'm sure the camera person didn't psychically know that part was coming up in the song and then put the camera on Adam because he knew Adam was going to say it, before he was going to say it. Anyway, thanks for bringing it up. ❤

Apparently before they got on stage in the live they were having some sound issues maybe that’s why it sound like Chance had a hard time hearing himself.

Chance wrote this at the request of Ubisoft (game creators). The game is to be released next month, I think. The live version was at the a game con. The live version shows just how full they can sound. We think Opera Rob made an appearance in this one. I suspect Chance may also have been a bit nervous. The live version is definitely my favorite. I liked it without the production. I’m pretty sure there is going to be a live version video released later. You’re hearing Tim and Chance at the beginning. The Sea Shanty Medley was totally viral on TikTok and Instagram with a dance someone made up. This is all jumbled up because I was trying to comment as you were asking questions. Hope it makes sense. Thanks, Cole!!

Ubisoft after hearing the Sea Shanty Medley contact Home Free about creating a theme song for their upcoming game. Chance who is a big sea shanty fan jumped at the opportunity to write the song. He was also responsible for Home Free doing the Sea Shanty Medley. The rest of the group was not wanting to do it at first but he helped to change their minds. It is the second highest viewed Home Free video at 34 + million views there Ring of Fire video has 43+ million views. Tim and Chance’s bass at the start of the song really set atmosphere for the rest of the song. Great reaction as always and you have a blessed day.

You are right. Ubisoft saw Sea Shanty Medley and approached Chance and asked him to write a shanty for their new game and this is it. It’s a banger!!! I love this song and the game looks good too. I think the game comes out today??!! Or soon. I think the boys are supposed to make an actual video of this sometime in the future. Chance is playing guitar and Austin is playing mandolin. The live version in front of the Ubisoft crowd is good too. Good reaction Cole!!!😍

Don't recall anyone else reacting to both of these in one video. Couldn't be more thrilled for Chance finally having his moment to be front and center. Much of the time he's just in the background doing his thing. There are likes and dislikes for each version. Live feels very authentic. The rumbly bass, Rob's operatic richness resonates. Even love how Chance stomps up to the mic. Lots of energy. The Lyric version is more produced so not as easy to decipher who's doing what but it's a treat for the eyes and ears. Who know what opportunities might come of this for the guys. The Lyric version amassed well over 100K views in less than 48 hours, when it was released, from a lot of people unfamiliar with HF. Now we're just waiting on an Official Video of this from the guys (with hopefully very minimal game footage). Heard maybe this Fall?? (Quite certain they didn't don the pirate-y garb just for a quick snapshot.)

You’re right that more than one gaming reactor almost lost their minds over the song. And, below in the comments there would be Home Fries saying that they were there just for the music. I’m assuming they sung it live with some kind of track to amp up the percussion and mandoline. Still a debate online about who did the ‘skull and bones’ refrain, Adam or Rob. (I think Tim) I’m also assuming there were story points that Chance was asked to include. And that the final audio version was tweaked and engineered to serve the unique needs of a video game theme song. My wish is for a recording that frees them from any Ubisoft musical constraints and gives us more of Opera Rob, like the live version. They did get all costumed up for a promotional photo, so I’m wondering if they do their own piratey video. Thanks for the double reaction. I really like you pointing out what you are hearing.

Seems I recall ... before the release of "Sea Shanty" - Tim saying something about "because Chance really likes sea shanties..." -- May have been reference to what's in the works, not only their famous medley!?! .. Anyway - What we learn of HF is "Studio" which is right damn-near perfect ... then, typ. "Can they do that LIVE?" ...... Well, we've learned YES, that LIVE is somehow even better but turned-up a notch or 3. Yer in awe while there then as quickly as it's over --- all surreal, Did that really just happen? In addition to Chance and Tim starting with the great low notes, I believe Adam is ooing in the low range too. How fortunate is Home Free to have 3 song writers (Tim, Austin & Chance)? Chance wrote this one, plays guitar and sings lead (Austin plays mandolin). It's such a good song with such evocative music & lyrics. I think the live version is bassier (is that a word?) than the studio video. I'm not a gamer but the graphics are as fantastic as the singing, harmonies & beatboxing.

No Tim's not double tracked in the studio version. They actually had to pull back his track, in the beginning especially, so you could hear Chance sing the lead. You can tell this when listening to the live version. Not only is Tim much louder but he washes out Chance almost completely in the beginning. Thanks for doing reactions of both. The live version is my favorite. And I think for most of the Home Fries too.
