Adam Rupp is a world champion beatboxer. He is a co-founder of Home Free (2000) and he also has a beautiful voice but never sings the lead vocals, by choice. Watch one of his drum solos. He can also mimic the sound of a harmonica in Man of Constant Sorrow. Tim Foust (bass) has a range of 5 octaves. Home Free won season 4 of the Sing Off. They have well over 100 KZbin videos.

The beatboxer, Adam Rupp, is a world class beatboxer, and is known as the human drum kit. There are videos of Adam doing his percussion routine. He also makes other musical instrument sounds and particularly harmonica. Check out their cover of Man of Constant Sorrow, from the movie Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. This group has the richest harmonies on the planet.

The idea of using a beat-boxer to mimic percusssion with an acapella group started with a group called Rockapella - and now it's thriving with a number of popular groups, particularly on KZbin. Adam Rupp is one of the, if not the best, at actually sounding like a drumset, though - as a lot of the music Home Free do is country, that's what they need for their percussion. He's pretty much self-taught as a beat-boxer, but he studied trumpet perfomance at college, and obviously some of the skills transfer.

The drums are all vocal percussion. 22 Look on youtube. There are several videos of him doing drum solos live. In their Sea Shanty Medley he mimics castanets.

Just stumbled upon your channel. Adam Rupp is mostly know as a vocal percussionist (though he can beat box ver. There is a difference between a beat boxer and a vocal percussionist but it's subtle. Vin, you actually touched on it when you said you were used to the more electronic beatbox sound while Adam (for Home Free) does more sounds like a traditional drum kit. Adam has only gotten better over time and I noticed you pulled up their video of Man of Constant Sorrow for a second. That's worth a listen! I will say that Home Free (Adam) does use a looper live while in recordings they can layer vocal tracks. For instance, in Man of Constant Sorrow, one of the guys does a certain sound at the beginning and end but has said it kind of hurts his throat so he does one pass and then it's set on the looper. Adam himself does the drum track but also another vocal instrument and it would be impossible for him to do both at the same time so he puts the drum track on the looper for when he does the other instrument. This mashup song is one of my favorites by HF.

It is Ed Sheeran doing the dancing, with Brittany Cherry ( a professional dancer from Dancing with the Stars). She also dances with Austin in one of their original songs called, When You Walk In. That is one I think you both would like. And the harmonies are incredible.

Well “a cappella” means no instruments. There were no drums or instruments, just the incredible beatboxer Adam Rupp. If you’re doubtful about that listen to Adam Rupp Drum Solo on KZbin. He does 10 minutes of drums and sounds with this mouth. Home Free is amazing. All the guys can sing. Try End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, In the Blood to hear more great harmonies. They do another Ed Sheeran song Castle on the Hill, it’s so good.
