Wonderful, genuine reaction. Thanks for sharing your heart with us. My maternal grandmother has always been my role model and favorite person. She loved unconditionally. She’s been gone for 47 years now. I’d give anything for a Christmas at her house on the farm.

Thank you for your honest reaction. This song hits me the same way. I lost my mom to alzheimers/dementia this year and she was our big catalyst for holidays, especially Christmas. And they haven't been the same since her disease kicked in six years ago. Peace and strength to you my friend, I enjoy your reactions.

It's okay to be sad because you miss someone who is gone. It means you still love them. Lost my mom 3 years ago 3 weeks before Christmas and it still makes me a little sad. But I embrace it instead of hiding it because it's honest. Every time I hear this song, the memories flood back but they are good memories. And the tears always flow. Especially as how Austin ends it in live performances with "Love You Nani" or "Miss you Nani"

This was written by Austin for his Nana. He was quite close to her. And, I’m really thinking Adam Rupp was really feeling this too….just watch him. Grandmas are just so special‼️❤️… &, I miss both of them ‼️🎄❤️

Dan, it's all about family continuity. I remember my grandmother and great aunt had beautiful voices and sang carols. I tell that to grandchildren now. And so it goes. That's why family holidays are so important.

For anyone who has lost loved ones the Christmas time brings many sad feelings. Since I've lost my parents, Christmas is very hard for me. This song hits all my buttons. You are so lucky to have those memories and to have found your grandmother. I agree, my best memories of Christmas is the time that was spent with family not presents. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much Dan for your reaction! I appreciate you for being transparent and authentic! I believe that every time we shed tears and share memories it brings renewal especially with music! I know that music is a powerful catalyst to healing for me personally! I love Home Free and their beautiful hearts. I think that is why they are so beloved by the Fries. We can "feel" their music! They are so relatable! So thanks for sharing a side of you I've never seen! This was a very good experience for me! I am better for it! Merry Christmas and many blessings to you!♥️🍟🎄⭐🎀

Dan, I never met my father's mother, as she had cancer and passed away in Jan 1960 and I was born in June. However Grandpa remarried in April 1961....And grandpa died in 1972 but Rita, never stopped being my grandma !!! Grandma Rita and I remained very close even into adulthood. My wife & I would often go up to Ft Lauderdale, Tamarac speficially (how many folks you know can say they "GO UP" to Ft Lauderdale LOL) and spend the weekend with Grandma Rita (that's what we always called her)....and I was always okay with her introducing me, and then me & my wife as her Grandson & his wife....because since before I was 2, SHE WAS MY GRANDMA. We lost her Dec 29th, 1988, and I still miss her so very much !!! so I totally understand and I mean this another big hug to you brother !!!!!

Dan, thank you for sharing your grandmother with us. My grandmother was much the same, but we only got to see her a couple and some Christmases. I'm coming to 80 and just returned from a four-months to spend time with my granddaughter and her four children. I hope to be able to spend more time with them to share my life stories with them. You've got the like and I subscribed a while back. Merry Christmas

I cry every time I hear it, and Rob said they were worried about Austin getting through this the first time he did it onstage. I saw him in Charlotte when he performed it, and it actually broke up my tough-guy son. He said it reminded him of all the good Christmases past. It is proof that it isn't the lights, the gifts, or the parties you remember......but the people you shared it with. Together really is all we need to be. God bless you in the New Year.❤

As I am writing this, I am in my mother's basement packing up her belongings, having lost her a few months back. I was halfway holding it together Dan, and then you started to sniffle. That opened the floodgates for me and I needed it, so thank you for being man enough to show your emotions. Dan I'm so happy you continued with your channel. Your ability to talk through a camera to an audience is not equaled by any of the other reactors I've seen. Even the ones with the best camera presence still tend to perform for the camera, while you come into our living rooms and have a conversation with us. Happiest of holidays to you, Dan. May many blessings be yours. 🤗

So sorry about your loss. It's rough. I lost my mom 3 years ago, just weeks before Christmas. It is a tough thing to go through their life. I can say from experience, take your time and allow yourself to relive the memories. They are so precious. It's okay to be sad. I still miss her terribly at times, especially at Christmas, her favorite time of year. But it's ok to miss them because we still love them.❤

This was written by Austin, Emma Brooke and Steve Martinez. It makes me cry everytime I hear it. He makes me think of my mom that I lost right before Christmas when I was 18. You can feel and see the pain in his voice and face. Truly enjoyed watching your heartfelt reaction to this song. Sorry to hear about your Nanny.

Bless your big heart! I know you may not have recorded these videos back to back, but they were released that way. When this one followed “Christmas Ain’t For the Lonely”, I thought “Oh, no! Dan’s probably going to have a rough time with this one, too!” Grandmas are important to their grandchildren and vice versa. I didn’t get to spend as much time with mine as some because we moved out of our hometown (where I was born) when I was 8 years old. I didn’t get to know either set of grandparents like my older sister and brother did. I never knew my maternal grandfather because he died before my mom and dad married. Anyway, my kids were very close to my mother. We lost her over 13 years ago and it hit us all very hard. She loved to cook and she was very good with children. She had a special gift. My kids took it very hard, as I did, too! I think of them and my mom more than anything at Christmas time. This song is bittersweet, for sure! Austin was close to his Grandma and you could see it in his eyes how much he loved her.

Dan, thank you for sharing your story with us. This is the sweetest song! It's one of the very few HF songs I've only heard a few times! I have a really long story that I'd like to share but I don't have time & like you said, I don't know if anyone would care to hear it. I've had a good life but all my family members except my paternal grandmother (lived to be 96) & one uncle on my dad's side is 82 today, died very young or others before retirement age & my husband, my 2 sons' dad, died at 55. I have my 2 sons & their sweet wives & my 2nd "better half" so that's my current family. Merry Christmas to all & I'll pray that you don't have a "lockdown"! We haven't been "locked down" since this crap started in 2020!

This song was beautiful and you can feel the emotion rolling off of Austin. You can see the love in his eyes. Last year was my 1st without Mom and Dad just passed 28 days ago so this was also a very hard Christmas. So, this is a song that I'd forwarded to Dad last year when it was released. He was a massive Home Free fan and he loved this song. So, I've listened to this song many times over the past 2 Christmas seasons and have shed many many tears, but music is also healing. I tend to bottle emotions up and not deal with them. Except when there's music. Home Free has helped me face the grieving process. They have a tremendous knack for being able to cover whatever emotion you need. Thank you for telling your story. There are many people who can relate. And we need to realize that it's ok to let the emotions surface and the tears that flow are a healthy release. I'm still learning this. I'm thankful for people like you that react with honesty and are able to show that things affect you. So thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I could see how painful it was for you to share. Thank god that you got to have that time with her, and the chance for all the memories you created. Big families are great. When you all get together it makes a unique situation. We always laugh when someone calls out “hey mom”. You get a look from 15 mothers. The memories do hurt but it would be worse to not have them. God bless.

Merry Christmas Dan from one Canadian to another. I understand your angst. Christmas last year was horrible. My mom past in Aug., and she was our Christmas. We didn't even celebrate last year. I told my daughter that this year we have to start making new memories, for the kids. It won't be the same, but it will be what we make it. That's what she would have wanted.

Kevin, he says they called her Nani. I know because when I read that I was so happy. They didn't call her Nanna but Nani which is what all of my mother's grandchildren called her. She got that name from my daughter who was her first grandbaby. You probably think it's not a big deal but it was to my mom and me.
