what I love about this scene is that it shows both man's strengths. Tim is a salesman/showman so he can work a crowd, he is a good tool man but he gets carried away by his showman side. Al is a tool man and very knowledgeable but he isn't a showman and is there to make Tim look good. I love how Tim takes Al's role and adapts to it perfectly showing he is a good tool man and is knowledgeable in tools but he is more knowledgeable in what makes a show and how to run a show.

@nuraby_9228 Жыл бұрын
@@Fallows-rh3mi I like to think that after this, Tim does give Al a crash course on how to host a show and work a crowd, because in Season 3 Al is way more comfortable being the host when he and Tim guest-host Cooking with Irma. (Which is ironically the episode I watched just before this clip). It's a good thing that the writers portrayed Al and Tim as much closer friends after Season 1, the show worked much better as an odd-couple friendship instead of adversaries.

You couldn't really blame Al for wanting to host since he'd been the butt of Tim's jokes for so long now, but he learned a good lesson about how hard Tim's job really is and hence why he was able to joke; so in turn had more respect for him despite all the teasing. Al would of course go on to host while Tim and the family were away to Jill's dad's funeral much later, but I' sure other times offscreen as well.

@MNico19928 жыл бұрын
he didnt suddenly suck. this episode was meant to show that being the host and being the assistant are very different. Al was nervous and floundering because he doesnt have the qualities that Tim has. he makes for a great assistant because he is very knowledgeable, but a poor Tool Time host because he cant match Tim's confidence, energy, and wit. he wasnt out of character. he was just out of his element.
@XShifty0311X7 жыл бұрын
MNico1992 Correct. Al for the first time was carrying the show and it's pacing. He had to fill in the dead air while setting up the next sequence. Something Tim was good at but not Al. Al wasn't out of character, just realizing that he was failing and starting to get flustered until Tim stepped in and got him back on track.
