🙏 She got out of harms way, at least for that day. And while one can question how much it truly helps a person long term to get involved like this, this intervention did provide Kristy a chance to share her story for all to hear--as well as the conditions at these camps for all to know.

This episode proved that my instinct was right on. I suspected Kristy was abused by tc after seeing the episode with the cat in the tent. The way he reacted over the cat was a red flag & the way Kristy was quiet & stiff with her movements as the cat tries desperately to get back in the tent. She also seemed reserved & withdrawn while he was loud & aggressive. There’s no telling what might’ve happened to the cat but I feared he might kill it. After seeing that, I could easily imagine him severely hurting or murdering Kristy & it wouldn’t have surprised me one bit. To hear Kristy talk about how he tied up some girl in their tent for stealing was absolutely chilling. Guarantee if he hasn’t already murdered someone, he will soon enough

Your instincts are better than mine. Maybe because I was too close to it all, but I didn't know about any friction between them until this day. Then I saw just how brutal life is in these camps. Might makes right. The cops were hands-off unless there was a shooting. Fights, thefts, sexual assaults, even the 12-year-old living there--authorities were hands-off. It was disturbing and a wake-up call that people there are in real need of help (if they're even willing to receive it).

Thank you for bringing awareness to just how bad it is. I really had no idea. I also felt scared for your safety when you were giving Kristy a ride & after you returned to the camp & tc approached you. I applaud you for the time you spent there, getting so much footage & making a docu-series with it. It was very interesting to watch. I am wondering about episode 8? When I watched this episode it said episode 8 was coming up next, but I couldn’t find it. Is it still available to watch?

@mollywike9373 hi Molly, thanks for the care and concern. We're working in Ep. 8 now. This one has been trickier to edit, given it's nearing the end of the story if this particular encampment. Tying it all together in a story requires a little more creativity. But there some powerful moments once again. So I look forward to getting it finished for you all. Sit tight. It's coming!

They have to want help. You cant force someone to get help to improve their lives. Over the years i have went out of my way to help a few homeless people. It never works until they want the help. They just go back to the lifestyle.

This is true in life in general. It's just a more pronounced lesson when realizing it from those who are clearly in need of assistance--and sometimes outwardly ask for it--yet also often resist services to improve their situation.

Honestly a lot of this is brain chemistry. If you don't have the levels of motivational chemicals in the brain, there's nothing that can force motivation. Same with other essential feelings. You need motivation, desire, will, physical energy, etc. in order to want the help. Those feelings are only possible with the ability to have proper levels of various chemicals in the brain. Norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine, and so many others. There are also hormones to take into consideration. Lower than average testosterone, all on it's own can force a person into a lack of will and motivation and energy and desire. That's why sometimes treatment has to preceed desire for treatment. And that is a tremendous hurtle.

@@denrico777 Agreed. So much of our behavior is chemically-driven. So much so, it tempts us to remove culpability for another's actions. Yet this only seems to work up to a point. It doesn't feel right to believe the person has no choice--or that greater forces can't intervene to influence someone to change.
