I use an external USB microphone on the table close to me since the camera-mic is on the other side of the glass (and the sound would be faint). May I ask where you are purchasing the lightboard from? Perhaps I can offer more advice to you?

Nick, you can buy an inexpensive Lightboard from lightboarddepot.com I'm using one for my University courses.
