This circuit is one of the simplest and cheapest circuits to test LED, TV backlight, and diode test.
don't forget that there is a risk of electric shock.
when using this circuit, so be careful not to harm yourself and others.

The voltage at the probes is over 300VDC VDC-peak = VAC rms x 1.4 - Vf of diodes That is a standard well-known equation - this guy says its 0 to 200DC which is nonsense. While the resistors limit the current - a small current at that voltage is dangerous Another point is that LEDs have a low reverse voltage rating so this high voltae coud damae a LED. A led tester that can damage the DUT ------ not smart at all then the construction sucks. The resistors should not be soldered directly to the prongs. And there should be better strain relief. Plus the wires need to be rated for that voltage In conclusion a bad and even dangerous circuit that is poorly constucted.. It is clear to me that this guy lacks knowledge

If you short circuit the resistors get too much power and can damage (in this video at 4:53) P = 230V*230V / 20000 Ohm = 2.645 Watt 2.645 more than 0.25. Nobody guarrantees the resistors no lose them value. If the circuit shorted and you contact pins you can get more than 20-30milliampers and you will be died. If you do not know and do not understand safety regulations and sources of danger you do not use 230V (or more than 40V Voltage) The idea is good, but you should use less than 40V instead of 230V. For example an 18V accu is good for this.

@@fulgen Yes, 2.65W divided in two. But it is 2.65/0.5= 503% overload. And if you short the phase wire with a grounded case of other device P = 230V*230V/10000 Ohm = 5.29 Watt on only one resistor. The point is that the electricity is dangerous. More than 40V can cause damage. If somebody use 230V (100-250V) the safety regulations must be followed. I'm sure there is no country where this is allowed

Se encenderán más débilmente si pones las mismas. Este suministra una corriente media de alrededor de los 10-12 mA a 230 V porque lleva dos resistencias de 10k (20k efectivos). Si es para 120 te generará alrededor de 5 mA. Si quieres puedes poner dos resistencias de 4k7 o 5k6 para hacerlo similar.

While the resistors limit the current - a small current at that voltage is dangerous Another point is that LEDs have a low reverse voltage rating so this high voltae could damage a LED. A led tester that can damage the DUT ------ not smart at all then the construction sucks. The resistors should not be soldered directly to the prongs. And there should be better strain relief. Plus the wires need to be rated for that voltage In conclusion a bad and even dangerous circuit that is poorly constucted. It is clear to me that this guy lacks knowledge

Noooo! Usa los mismos valores de 10k. Los LED se encenderan mas debiles. Las luces LED se encienden hasta con las puntas del MULTIMETRO en "Diode Mode.'" Observando la polaridad.
