Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated the BJP's promise to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country if it wins a third straight term at the Centre, arguing that no democratic country has personal laws.
In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Amit Shah said, "Should the country be run on the basis of Sharia? On the basis of personal law? No country has ever run like that. There are no personal laws in any democratic country in the world. Why is it there in India?"

On Electoral Bonds ..I blame Justice Chandrachud. The Bonds were total 3 percent of money spent on elections in a 5 yr period. Thus 97 percent was undeclared cash in suitcases and 3 percent Bonds had traceability links ..Now Chandrachud has made 100 percent cash in Suitcases with zero traceability.

Caste is the reality for India and politics is based on the reality of caste. How can you remove it. It's inbuilt in our society. People want to remove everything based on caste but they don't want to annihilate caste itself. Annihilate caste and automatically everything based on caste will vanish. Isn't it a good idea? Or you want caste to exist, you want discrimination based on caste to exist, but you don't want the privileged castes to unite for themselves. Long back Ambedkar wrote annihilation of caste. What happened? So much politics was done on Ram Temple and there are people benefitting from it. But do you know all of the committee members are forward caste except one SC or ST. So better talk of removal of castes the effects will automatically be removed.

@@sundeutsch Our present caste system is based on reading habits, social habits and living habits of each caste which has been their way of life this thousands of years. This caste system is not prescribed by the religion but people themselves formed these which again are based on logical considerations only. But an occasional marriage which has become more predominant now was always taking place. Such a caste system should be viewed as a strength of society with diverse habits and lifestyles. Also this caste system has protected people in times of necessity. Even today if you go to any village people of the same caste will provide definite help to any newcomer. The problem is when this diversity is politicised or used for economic pressure. More that education is in equal footing, economic downgrading cannot be done. Politically family type of parties are encouraging caste politics and this should go. Earlier reduction systems were traditional vocations given from father to son or daughter and there again equal chances were maintained. Also earlier grandiose lifestyles except occasionally for royals were shunned and simplicity means equality in a way she less consumption of resources. Now it is consumption oriented economy and incomes do matter as simple lifestyles are of the past. Caste per say is not poison but there way it is utilised to obstruct merit and interest of each person is the danger. We should have more educational institutions where one can follow his life's interest and earn a decent living.. Once this is achieved and politics is not caste based, our people will be united and with caste. During my college days we were akk friends irrespective of caste. And now I find even students are divided based on caste equations because politics has entered every corner of our life.
