Very helpful to see your plannings for my own planned observatory in our backyard. Only one thing: I would always install a LAN cable. If you install the power line, it is almost no additional cost an work.

Since you're trenching for the power I'd put the ethernet cable in anyway, even if it's unterminated. The cable isn't very expensive and it's always there if you want it.

Thanks for sharing your plans. An Ethernet connection will be more stable and faster than relying on wi-fi but good luck with your endevour.

Why not try to go for network over powerline? Those adapters come dirt cheap. I use them, and are for sure better than unreliable thru-walls wi-fi connection in my thick-brick-walled old house.

@@hugadogstudio Hi, how do the powerline adpters fare with mains power reels, have you experience?

@@stevenickolls8016 I can only atest to my case and experience with unfiltered powerstrips with 5m extension cables, and it works OK with both adapters being attached to such devices. The main culprit might be some hungry power receivers on the same powerline, or strong electro-magnetic fields. Error-correction in such cases may consume quite a big percentage of nominal bandwidth.

Why not have the filter wheel mounted on the other side?

I really enjoyed this video! You didn't mention how much it cost you to remove the trees, or did you remove them yourself? Looking forward to seeing the next video!

I feel bad about cutting the tree down… why don’t you trim them half way and do it once a year

You crossed the rectangle so you wouldn’t later get confused if the observatory should be inside or outside the lines 😂
