Hello Sophia. To move your filing cabinet you can use either a carpet runner or any kind of small throw rug, turn it upside down, put your file cabinet on the rug and then pull it to where you want to go. This works when moving on wood floor or carpet. We've moved desks, dressers, etc. this way and works great. Hope that helps. You are another step closer to the fun stuff. Blessings! :-) The Mrs.

Oh Sophia! your doing an amazing job. Oh my gosh ! you ask what your subscribers are getting anything out of this, gets me chuckling. You are the Martha Stewart for the rest of us.My husband has actually voiced that he wants to de clutter, I have a sneaking suspicion it is due to me having your vlog on when he is at home. I've tried for almost 20 years and you go thru the steps and we all including my hubby realize that yes it's a pain but it is doable if we do in in zones. I've caught him peering up from Beowulf when your cluttering and organizing vids are on.

Hi Sophia. I have watched all your Home Office Makeover videos. I can hardly wait until you are completely done to see the finished room. I have just subscribed to you. You are an inspiration to me and have made me motivated to start (today) on my combination bedroom/office/craftroom. I had a dedicated office/craftroom but recently had a relative stay with me for several months so moved all my "stuff" from that spare room to my bedroom. It's just been sitting there making it almost impossible for me to even move around in the bedroom. I am now going to attempt to get it in shape ... thanks to your motivation. I am renting, so don't think I'll be painting. I watch decluttering videos adnauseum, and yours is by far the best I've seen. I really love those 3D labels. Worked in an office environment for over 30 years and never seen them until now. Regarding moving heavy furniture - I am a senior and must move stuff myself. I have purchased several sets of those plastic furniture movers that you can put under each corner of whatever and just slide your furniture over the rug or lino. A couple of pieces (tv and stand) I just leave them underneath. Very, very handy and quite cheap to purchase. Your boys are very cute and charismatic.

Since you are going to get rid of the rug, cut around the file cabinet but cut long enough where you can grab the rug and drag the cabinet, or go to the hardware store and get a set of Gliders, mine are octagon shape. They are made to move big heavy things on rugs or hard surfaces.

Sophia, this is probably too late now, but file cabinet drawers are REMOVABLE. Pull it out as far as it will go, then LIFT and pull, and you can pull it all the way out and set it aside. Pull both drawers, move the cabinet, reinsert the drawers once the cabinet is in place. Maybe that will help someone else if it's too late to help you. Thank you for making this series of videos. Kept me company while I worked at shredding the huge pile of papers I purged from my files this year. Great content as always! Loved the interview with Edward, btw.

Sophia - you've made great progress! I've watched this series marathon style from no.1! So inspiring! I am also working on doing this room by room throughout my house! I'm filming mine too, but I won't post them until a room is done because of the lag time between segments when I am home to work on it. One suggestion - I have a colored hanging file folder in the front of each drawer and labeled it "Index File" - I have used Smead Viewables for years... Then I put my index file in the sheet protector in there. It may work better for you than laying it on top of the files, for example, if you already know where something is or goes, you'll have to move the sheet out of the way before getting to the folder. One less obstacle if it's filed in the first folder. Can't wait to see the finished room!

Lol, loved, loved the interview with Edward. He's so well spoken too, smart kid. Those 3-D labels are nice too. That may be something I tackle later on, but want to get focused on organization of the big stuff right now. We have an old file cabinet from the forties or fifties that's built like a tank and about as heavy as one too. Can't buy them built like this any more unless you pay a fortune. For a couple of bucks I found those large plastic furniture moving disks at the dollar store--worked like a charm. Even I can move that huge thing by myself now. Can't wait to see the new paint. Great ideas, great vid--thanks again.

You've made amazing progress! You are going to have the office done a lot sooner than you originally thought! I actually got my file cabinet done last Fri. I had quite a bit less to file and save due to so many of our bills being done online! It is so helpful to be able to access all of that info online without having to store it all on paper! To Edward: Keep up the good work at running!! My three sons all ran in Middle and High school. They really enjoyed track and cross country and made many friends across the state! All together we, as parents, had twelve years straight of both sports! As adults, they are still able to run 5 k & half marathons for fun and exercise! Our youngest son especially has kept up the running. He was in the Air Force for nine years and now works for the Dept. of Homeland Sec. in Wash. DC. Luella

jeff RAPER Thank you Luella, I have been thinking about simply keeping the account info, address and passwords for the online accounts in those files, there really isn't any need to keep a full bill, we never look at them anyway,

Ok, Sophia, i just binged watched all of your office makeover videos. You are truly amazing. Keep it up girl. I have a few thoughts on some things. When you feel or think you have so much of something like the pens or the plastic covers... I recommend keeping a reasonable amount and just donating the rest to a Kindergarden or a teacher... they can actually use it and you don't have to have a whole box of pens(space) you are literally never going to use. Also, your son is awesome. Funny, very thoughtful and ambitious. I am sure he is going to go far in life! I cant wait for your next video. I hope it is going to be up soon. :D Sarah

Hi Sophia, Over the last year I've switched entirely to online bill paying where I can, probably about 95%. When I get online confirmation that the bill has been paid, instead of printing a hard copy, I print/save via XPS to my Documents Folder. What ? Not the most fascinating video ? I watched it until the end (with the moment when you interviewed your son with the light bulb !!! So funny !) I'm thinking about buying a file cabinet like yours because at the moment, we just have those sorts of metal boxes (one for me, one for my husband and one for the home stuff) and we have some files in the desk and some in a cupboard ! So many scattered files everywhere but I stay organized ! Just an idea for moving your file cabinet : I know you are a great builder, so perhaps you could build a board deck (I want to write "plateau à roulettes" but I'm not sure about the english translation LOL). "See" you later ! -Sophie

Hi there! I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing :-) The 3D labels looks nice and I maybe will try make something like that DIY style. About the archive - can you extract single shelve out of it? I mean if I have to move a whole cabinet with full drawers I would just take one full drawer at the time out of it and then move remaining whole empty frame... Or if you have a hand truck or something like that, you can move the whole thing.

I loved the microphone you used for your interview! Very inventive. I'm worried about Harrison Ford. Are you gonna be able to salvage that huge poster or is it going to be sacrificed in the name of progress?? I am not a big enough fan of Ford's that I went to see even one of the Raiders movies but in that poster he is downright pretty!
@mygreatchallenge10 жыл бұрын
Maryann Anderson Well, Harrison Ford got a bit damaged when we took him down but there is no way I am sacrificing him. I used to collect movie posters when I was a kid, this one is the only one that made it across the pond into the US. I have a few ideas as to what to do with it, it might get modified but we are keeping it.
@MzzMona10 жыл бұрын
can i suggest for your filing issues, THE FREEDOM FILER system, you could find it here on you tube where I learned about it, its a self purging system, you may wanna modify it just to accomodate your budget but it works along with and action file or tickler system, i use the action filing system then onto the freedom filer, i promise that you will love it and space accomodating because of the ability to self purge, Let me know how you like it, I do prescribe these two systems for your home office. Keep me posted.
