He is gone physically, but his memory lives on forever in my heart.

This comment should not be bringing me to tears but it is. As someone who has also lost a cat, it truly is painful. I remember the day I lost him, I had a dream the night before of him coming in and I was just hugging him in the dream (he’d been missing for a few days, we only found him when he was severely injured). He was gone. I was devastated. It felt like a deep cavernous hole stabbed into my guts, the place where he’d once been in my heart now empty with grief. That was a few years back, I still think of him to this day. I’d like to think that if heaven is real, all pets went there too so maybe one day all of us who have lost a beloved pet meet with them again.

TW: loss of a pet Today, at 11:30AM, my cat passed away. He was 14, and suffered from Hyperthyroidism and an undiagnosed lung condition. He had been gasping for air for weeks and had become skin and bones, and we decided it was no longer fair to him to let him suffer. He was so close to me, he was my cat since I was 1. I cried and yelled and weeped in anguish, and after a bath, I felt so much better. When I pass by, I still look in spots where he used to nap. Sometimes I ask myself when he is coming back, and then I remember, he won't. When that happens, it makes me feel hollow and cold inside and makes me cry. I listen to this song to remember when he would sit on my desk and I would listen to this while petting him. All morning I hugged and petted him to let him know I loved him. Rest in peace, Maui. Sleep tight. (yes my pfp is the cat)
