That last bit ... getting the sounds you want before even recording ... spot on! That's how EMI did it with the Beatles. Best way. You have to commit. Glyn Johns these days won't go beyond 16-track ... and I started on 4-track ... learning to commit to a decision is a very empowering thing. Nice tour!

It's probably a sign that you're a bit too into a band when you recognise a blurred image of a lesser-known live album in the background of a video (3:37 - I'm pretty sure that's HAARP by Muse with the yellow text on the black background)

I am surprised by the lack of SM-57's you have! Also no boundary mics. Nonetheless you have a knack for setting up any room. Also/lastly, check out a Sennheiser 109 for guitar amps. I have found them quite useful in a variety of applications.

Getting it right at the front end so you don't have to fight too much later is the only way to go....I'ts the difference between a nightmare and a breeze whether you mix analog or in the box (which becomes very relative if you have good recordings).

Hi Joe. I really like the Studio tour. Looks like you will have a lot of fun making music there. I really enjoy your videos and passion you express for music...and sharing that with everyone. I also have a fair amount of Presonus gear as well. I bought a pair of Sceptre 6 and 8’s and with you being a Presonus guy I highly recommend u look into them (which u may have already.) I had the same MAudio Monitors you have for a long time and loved them like you do....but let them go once I heard the Sceptre series. They can compare to monitors 3x their price. The engineering that Fulcrum Acoustics did to create these CoActual design is amazing. They are really sleeping giants. When I was at Guitar Center they were in their sound room but not hooked up on a bottom shelf...No one was really taking Presonus seriously. I had them hook up the S6 first and I was just amazed with the sound....and when others came in they could not believe the sound and 3D imaging from this unknown brand. I bought them on the spot and 3 years later I have the S8’s and the subwoofer T10. I use them alone and together depending on the mix I am doing. Hope this may get you curious to look into them and the story behind the design. Look forward to many more of your videos. Thanks, Mike

Anyway, nice space, Joe. I have to admit I'm jealous. I don't have any kind of space for my setup at all. BTW, I agree on the trackpad. I just got a magic trackpad 2 the other day. I love it because I can do more with the extra gestures than you can with a mouse or trackball.

Good video Joe. I like "use what you have". I have a similar sense of humor. I probably have some over kill going on myself considering this Is as one man operation here. All I am trying to accomplish at this point is to get a little instrumental piece recorded while working thru the key of C on the keyboard and try to learn the drums. (wish I had youtube 20 yrs ago) I have an electronic drum set, acoustic and electric guitars. Thanks for the tour.
It would have been nice to hear about your desk. Did you make it or where did it come from?

How the fuck can anyone give this a thumbs down! The only thing it could be - idiots. Fantastic studio mate. I've just moved from a Mackie 24 channel 8 bus desk to a Mackie Big Knob and seriously miss the bigger desk. I'm considering doing the same as you and getting a mixing desk with a firewire output. The only difference being that I'd go for the Mackie one because I love them as much as you love Presonus. Note - the song at the end is really nice. Time to buy some of your music
