I never heard of prisoners being repatriated from Germany in 1943 when the war was not over until 1945. Anyone can explain this ?

They were probably deemed no longer medically fit?

There were a number of exchanges of prisoners who were severely wounded or too ill to fight. It’s part of the Geneva Convention.
