I've really enjoyed playing around with the new design tool and using it to figure out the best setup for the bonus room in our new house. This video gives us a lot more to think about and can't wait to get our theater set up!

To your point on not mounting TV or projector screen above eye level, doesn't having a reclining chair mitigate that? I typically mount my screen high for that reason - avoid craning my neck down to watch whilst in recline.

I love the thought of having a dedicated home theatre room but I just can't justify it - without building on to the house. I realize you can't have an ideal HT room that isn't designed as a HT room but it would be nice if you guys at some point had a best practice for the many of us who have a den/ht room with a couch in the back and chairs or another couch in front of the rear couch but to the side.

Does the room always have to be rectangular? Let's say the back wall is curved, even to the point that the room is a semi-circle - is this good or bad for the acoustics?
@AudioAdvice Жыл бұрын
A rectangle is best. A curved back wall will need to be covered with absorptive material. That is generally bad for acoustics. Thanks for watching

Hi Audio Advice, what about ventilation?
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
Generally most rooms have adequate HVAC, but yes, going for upsized returns and low noise supply vents and lines is icing on the cake, but we did not feel it to be as important as the other factors. However, when we design a theater, we will bring this up. Thanks for watching

Hi I’ve got an unusual question that I’m sure you can help me with, it would be awesome if you did a video on KZbin about this subject as there’s not much info on it. On to the question. I’m a retired portable DJ and I’ve got quite a few powered speakers 2x Mackie thump 15a’s, 6x Mackie thump 12a’s and 2x Mackie 18” powered subs. These are very powerful at 1300w each but seeing as they are powered I’m wondering if I can connect them via the RCA outputs of a receiver to power a home theatre build I’m planing. I was thinking the 2x 15’s for my fronts LnR 2x 12’s for my centre and 4x 12’s for side/rear surrounds, obviously to 2x subs up front as well. Any help in this situation would be awesome and appreciated.
@AudioAdvice3 жыл бұрын
Brodie- great question. Your best bet would be to just use a surround sound processor or a receiver that has preamp outs for all the channels. This is an example of one that would work well www.audioadvice.com/marantz-av7706-11-2-8k-ultra-hd-surround-pre-amplifier. You should only use one center channel speaker Thanks for watching

The article says 10 x 16 x 24 (2.4) vs video 26 length which is "correct"?
@AudioAdvice11 ай бұрын
Either one works, some believe 2.4 is better than 2.6 and others feel the opposite. If you really want to get deep into it, download a free copy of REW and play around with your dimensions to see the problems

The only issues I’m running into while trying to save up the money to start planning to build My very own Dedicated Home Movie Theater is I keep being told numerous times from people (You Can’t Do That!!!! Or I hear repeatedly You Can’t, You Can’t, You Can’t, You Can’t!!!!!!) I also hear - Are You crazy??? Why a Screen that Large???? I’m looking to have a Fixed Frame Movie Screen that’s between 180”-200” 16:9 Aspect Ratio. I would LOVE to have a ceiling height between 15-20 feet high.

Awesome advice and a welcome panacea to the jokers who unload a van full of speakers, drill holes all over the place and declare their 'install' complete. Sure, DSP can help solve a lot of issues but for those who are starting with a blank canvas, why not take the time to address the acoustics in the room BEFORE trying to wedge as many speakers as possible (not to mention posters and assorted knicknacks) into said room ? Thanks for the video.

@Audio advice, Scott bashing audio advice and it's customer service isn't something I wanted to do. But I wanted someone to reach out to me about concerns that I've had with your company. I'm in the market to buy a great amount of equipment but it seems no one wants to pick up the phones, even when you do get someone they NEVER follow through. I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops to spend my money

Your room designer should have settings for 9.1.4, 7.1.6, 9.1.6, etc. speaker layouts now that 13.1 and greater channel capable Dolby Atmos AV processors are more affordable.
@dan_hitchman0073 жыл бұрын
@Baz With home Dolby Atmos tracks that have been encoded properly, up to 24 lower level and 10 overhead speaker locations (plus the LFE channel) can be addressed by 3D pannable objects. The more speakers you have and the better the Atmos receiver or pre-amp, given a particular room size, means far better sound localization and precision of sound effects, music, and even dialog within that listening space.

The bar in the 3d row creates probably more troubles than it solves, bar stools are uncomfortable for 2h movies, the bar must also be mat finished so that it doesn't reflect light and sound absorband to not create any vertical standing sound waves or other issues that might arise, the spread of the speakers will have to change, if you chose to have overhanging atmos speakers and backrow speakers, because you stretch it out so much with the third row, you may not be giving a lot of space between the last atmos speakers and the back row speakers, ruining the whole depth experience. Also having people drink or eat exactly on top of your head is dangerous and annoying. So i really do not recommend the bar idea unless its a very last resorce solution, at least try to get as comfortable bar stools as possible (hopefully with a back support and cushions) and the bar should be made in a way it doesn't ruin the whole sound, and prooooobably avoid putting ceiling speakers above it, they may be having a lesser experience than everyone else but that's the best you can do
@AudioAdvice2 жыл бұрын
For most people who do a bar, it is there to hold snacks where the room has a multipurpose use. And in many situations there is just flat out not room for three rows of seats but for the 1-5% of the time when they need extra seats, it provides them. Thanks for watching
