Home video shot in Gasoline Alley 1984

This is part of some home-video I shot at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Gasoline Alley in 1984. I edited it using 2 VHS VCRs and added voiceover. The audio content was terrible but I tried to do some enhancements before uploading.
I seem to recall this is only part of the entire video. I'm not sure where the other part is. If I find it, I will upload it

Nice to have "original home style movies". The VCR "camcorders" of the era were, as you probably know, a 240 d.p.i. design with, around the early 80's, the 480 d.p.i. and "super VHS" camcorders coming eventually around. I bought in 1989 my first, and literally my only VHS camcorder: a Panasonic model. Loved it a lot...did lots of video with it in several kinds of projects. Still have many of the tapes. I went to the Indy "500" that year with a first cousin; one of his best friends; and my mom. We had, I say, "fair viewing" on the main straight some 300 feet from the start/finish line. Our view, at least was being able to be almost directly across from the winner of that '84 "500": the legendary great, Rick Mears. Third place finisher and, Penske teammate, the great talented Al Unser, Sr. was right across our viewing area. (F.Y.I. - my favorite for many years in his "prime racing years" was, Tom Sneva) All in all...I attended 13 of the "Indianapolis 500's". My first was 1965 when I was just of few months short of turning 15 years old. My "all-time favorite" racing car driver (and, still is) was of course, the late and great, Jimmy Clark of Scotland. My last attended race was 1994...Al Unser, Jr.'s second win at Indy. Back to VHS camcorders: That Panasonic did video a few racesat the Road Atlanta 2.5 mile road course. And, another last note of "home filming style in auto racing": I did once or twice with my dad's "Kodak Super-8" film camera...1975 & '78 Indianapolis practice sessions. Unfortunately, Dad's camera had no sound but...I reel-to-reel audio recorded it with a Panasonic recorder at 3-and-3/4 i.p.s. speed. Dubbed them on cassettes and still have them. Great sounds!

Oh...by the way...the "unknown race driver" signing his autograph in Gasoline Alley at I.M.S. - looks like the late, John Paul, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
