Lucy! Oh gosh--I'm Kate, the author of MDV and I've been a subscriber of yours for a few years now. (Vlogs are how I turn my mind off and relax! I swear, I couldn't have written the book without good old youtube.) I was so happy to see the book pop up here, and I'm so so so glad it resonated with you.
@jenniferrothwell20594 жыл бұрын
Kate, I read MDV within 24 hours. I wanted to write to you actually - as soon as I finished I just wanted to reach out and hug you. When reading your words, I had to go over them several times because I couldn't believe you'd written something that I understood so purely - it was like you'd copied words from my diaries. You said in your dedication and acknowledgements who this book was for; I just wanted to say thank you. I can't quite find the words to say much more than that. Thank you for writing this story. X

As for all of those cleaning vlogs, my daughter's theory is that they are all extroverts who have to find something to do with their excess energy now that they can't go out and socialize. As for us introverts, we don't have that problem, and are perfectly happy to stay in bed, eating snacks and drinking margaritas. There will be plenty of time for cleaning later :)

I adore your vlogs!!! And feel like I’m checking in with a friend... so to put in my two cents... Have you looked into digitalising your records and doing your own bookkeeping? I’m an accountant in London and find it crazy that with the technology we all use now that people still view accounting in an old school way, I.e bits of paper and boxes when in reality the options out their now are designed to reduce your time and aim to automate as much as possible! I know, I know *eyeroll* accounting isn’t cool but it doesn’t have to as tedious as people make it!! Xero or Quickbooks to maintain your records, both of these come with ocr tools that allow you take pictures of your receipts on the go with an app and will pick up all the information for you.... therefore eliminating the need for paper receipts... Winner! With new open banking regulations you can also have live bank feeds into your accounting records, match that off with your receipt and voila... you are all done! My aim is to help make clients lives as easy as possible and their are so many options.. feel free to give me a shout and I can point you in the right direction!!! Keep doing what you are doing, you are amazing! Xxxxx

I always look forward to your vlogs! Cheering me up on this gloomy day! Just an idea but for your receipts you could keep a box for them and have 12 envelopes and put your receipts for the month/every week in the envelopes to try and stay organised! But you are probably like me and start well and then give up! I am not organised at all!!!

Hey Lucy! I love weaving and have been doing it myself quite a lot so have some advice! My sister bought me that same weaving set for Christmas as I left my proper loom at home. Really be careful with that loom as mine wasn’t strong and fell apart. You assemble it by slotting the pieces of wood together, but when you string it together and attach the weft string, the top and bottom bars on the loom bend together due to the tension of the string and ‘pop’ out of place. My other loom from ‘wool couture’ you screw together and as the bars to wrap the string around aren’t perpendicular to the frame, they face up and down, so when you wrap the loom, it pulls the frame tighter. However as that loom has the little bars poking out at 90 degree angle from the loom, when you string it, it pulls the bars together and makes the loom fall apart as it’s not screwed together and the wood isn’t strong. Mine started falling apart as I was in the middle of a weaving, so had to tape it together with duct tape to keep its structure so I could finish the piece. I also found that that loom didn’t have grooves for the weft string to rest in, which meant that the strings kept coming off of the structure as they’re was nothing keeping them there. I had to get scissors and a knife to engrave grooves for the string to sit in, because I couldn’t use the loom otherwise. And the string that comes with this set is very cheap and is an artificial material, so slips off the loom easily and doesn’t hold tension very well. My favourite string is a more natural cotton string that came with the set I bought online. So if you get into weaving, maybe look into purchasing a higher quality weaving set and loom that can properly hold the tension. If you don’t want to spend lots of money, I got a proper loom set and great wool from ‘wool couture’ on Instagram, and it was a great price, with a high quality loom and comb. I much prefer the smaller comb that comes with that set, than the large long comb that comes with the loom that broke. I hope this helps! And I hope you enjoy weaving, it’s really fun and therapeutic, and it’s nice to make wall hangings as gifts! There are loads of weavers on Instagram to give you inspiration, my favourite is ‘spruce and linen’ who is also on KZbin. She makes lovely wall hangings and pillows which are great for inspiration! I think she also sells wool and sets through Etsy but they’re a little more pricey

She could always fortefy it with nails?

Haha, I have the opposite problem, I keep every little receipt. Have you tried putting them into a cute pouch? I always collect my receipts into my purse as I get them and then at the end of the day, I put them into a little pouch I have in my bedside table drawer. It could be also good if you could organize them by month. The first thing you need to learn is to wait for your receipt, as I know a lot of people leave before the cashier even hands it to them, and then you have to put it somewhere safe - ie not your pocket, because you will definitely slosh your hand in there, find the crumpled paper and throw it away immediately. If it's not on your mind, you're more likely to keep it.
@annaswanson59034 жыл бұрын
From an accounting perspective it also makes it easy to use and keep track of if you tape them onto a large piece of paper and organize by date
