My BF and I were just having a conversation about people excusing terrible behavior and blaming it on mental health. Every thing isn’t a mental health crisis and sometimes you just have to accept the fact that there are terrible people in the world and they know EXACTLY what they’re doing. It’s unfortunate but it also takes away from people who are actually suffering. This is why I hate the phrase hurt people hurt people. If you’re hurt you need to get help. This is coming from someone who was diagnosed with depression and ptsd.

I just lost my grandma a few days ago, I spent 40 days with her in the hospital everyday with staying there 8-14 hours each day. She was like a mom to me and my wedding is in a few days which she was so excited about and even helped so much with the planning, things have been so hard. I agree with this “mental as an excuse” trend. I’m beyond tired and upset, and aggravated every time someone uses mental health as a “easy way out” of a situation. And being someone with that has struggled with mental health for quite some time now, it is beyond disgusting that mental health is being treated like another trendy thing to take advantage of until something new comes along. I get nervous to even talk about my mental health just because I don’t want to be seen or be place in the same category as those who choose to abuse mental health (regardless of whether they suffer from it or not). Nowadays, there’s so many resources to choose from that in some cases can be low cost or free or charge for people who want to be and get better but aren’t in a financial position to do so. In a lighter note, I have been loving your videos for a long time now. I love how I can find Christ and Selfcare in one channel. This channels feels like one of my comfort zone where I believe God have been talking to me when I need it the most. No lie, every time I’m going to something and I just so happen to come across one of your new uploads, I feel like the message or theme you talk about in the video is for me. As if God is talking to me through you. And it’s not coincidence. So, thank you ❤❤❤. And sending all the blessings and love your way.

You have not struggled enough to understand sometimes people see no way out just because you can handle things don’t mean other people can this is exactly why the suicide rates are so high . It’s insensitive to say you’re “tired” of excuses when people with mental health issues is battling with their mind & are in a deep place. Nobody wants to be depressed or be this way. However, as someone who have struggled and it’s diagnosed with bad depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidal ideation and attempts, it is insensitive for you to just say or rather assume that l haven’t “struggled enough.” What does that even mean? Mental health, like you said, it’s a serious thing and thus it is a broad spectrum that cannot be fully define or measured, but somehow you found a way to do so. I’m not here to explain myself to you or anybody, or to play victim because I refuse to portray myself or act as what mainstream culture thinks mental health and depression supposed to look or be like. Nowadays, society fail to realize that there are bad, evil people fully aware of their actions and motives and have zero remorse about it. And that’s my point, that mental health is abuse and use as the “default” explanation for every bad thing that happened without considering the situation as a whole. Things like gun access, etc. are among those things to be considered. It baffles me that while you express yourself you also contradict your point by assuming the level of “mental be struggle” of a stranger. But then again I should’ve explain myself better just so others can believe that I have being struggling really bad with mental health for a long thing, and can understand my point of view whether you think I’m right or wrong. Having survived suicide, I can tell you have been through it deep, but because I have survive so far it doesn’t count. Thank you though for your input.

Neither one of you would be the first or last to believe to know it all about mental health, try to gate keep it, and invalidate and/or decide for others what “enough” struggle as if mental health (again) it’s something that can be defined or measured, but rather a broad spectrum, and not a competition of who has suffer “enough” and for how long (which by the way doesn’t correlate whatsoever with how deep or hard it can be) for their experience and thus their opinions to be valid or “sensitive.” I don’t speak and will never speak ignorance when it comes to mental health. And like I mentioned in my response to this person, we as society tend to believe that good things only happen to good people and bad things to bad ones, and that bad people can become good and historically good people with no record of being bad can do awful things. It is naive to think that there are no bad, evil people who are fully aware of their decisions, motives, and actions and have no remorse about it. It is also naive to not consider all the others variables, such as gun control/access, better access to security for schools, etc. before using and abusing “mental health as the “default” reason for all evil. That would no bright innocent kids back to their parents at the end of the day, nor would it take away the pain of those parents. Would it?
